I'm curious Lilly ,are you allowed to own a hand gun for target shooting and home defense in Austria?
@SurvivalLilly

Yes, but you can only carry it inside your home and/or garden if it is fenced off. Also you need a psycho test for pistols and semi shotguns. But concealed carry permit is almost impossible to get. So for outside your house you got to think about other solutions.

The only country in Europe that allows conceal carry permits for the general population is Czech Republic. Most countries in Europe though won’t even allow you to carry something as simple as a knife on you without a so called “lawful excuse”, which is of course defined on the moment by the random officer that checked you and then by the jury, with penalties in the thousands of euros and even 1-3 years imprisonment if you’re lucky, even if you were carrying something like a Swiss army knife and the officer/jury woke up on the wrong side of their bed. A lot of countries won’t even allow self defense tools like kubotans/tactical pens/pepper spray, let alone stuff like tazers or batons. Since us Europeans are so enlightened and progressive we make sure that only criminals and the government have weapons that they can use however they like, so the lower classes can peacefully live in anarchy, either being criminals or fearing to fall victim to criminals (and if they dare to try and defend themselves they will rightfully get punished and pay the offender their due in damages), while the upper classes can get away with doing whatever they like as they’ll always have the money and contacts to pay lawyers/corrupt judges and get out of trouble, all the while the politicians condemning self defense live in castles with teams of armed bodyguards and the governments hold all the power on the general population, as they own and command entire armies, can really get away with passing any laws they want, while at the same time making the average citizen feel like an enemy in his own country, gullible to any regulation/restriction imposed by the government on his personal freedom, unable to preserve his material and bodily integrity due to the lack of means to do so, and punished if he even tries to fight back against oppression/violation of his basic human rights and freedom, while being constantly made guilty and put in a position of debt and inadequacy by all the governments’ continuous policies that restrict his freedoms and rights, stealing his money and his time, and not paying him back in any way, all for a “higher cause”. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is democracy.

When protecting your electronics, it is important that the devices do not touch the aluminum foil used to wrap the items. First, wrap the devices in an insulator such as dry paper. Multiple, alternating layers will add additional protection. This is the same principle as lining your EMP can with cardboard to prevent the contents from contacting the metal "cage."
@fullsleevetats
@fullsleevetats Жыл бұрын
Great breakdown of the mini-bugout bag! One thing that many do not consider, is a proper faraday folio or bag. When you're packing your phones, tablets, radio for travel.. being sure to remove the batteries and antenna (if possible) and store them in a faraday bag. This provides both security and protection against EMP/solar flare destruction, and is critical if you need to rely on these devices in an emergency situation. I have several, varying in size and price, and they all work fantastic!

Hi, here in Slovakia and also in Czech republic there is no issues getting concealed carry licenses for anybody. You have to pass medical, psych evaluation and then actual tests and examination by police and prosecutor. Once you have done this you are free to carry pistol with up to 20 rnds magazine. I was told that in Poland you are automatically allowed to carry pistol concealed if you are a sports shooter. I think also Slovenia has similar laws to SK/CZ. Not sure about other countries thou.

20 years ago when the Companies started selling Survival Gear Kits I bought one and took it to the woods for 3 days. I found that only 4 items out of 40 were useful. I was cold and Miserable using one of those Aluminized Blankets. I needed 3 of them. It all comes down to Shelter, Water Purification, Warmth and food.. Most of the items you showed were totally useless. Geiger Counters, Oximeters, etc. etc. just took up space that I refilled with Food and Water and a sensible Canteen that could be used to boil water and a Canteen Cup. The Best Knives I found were a Victorinox WORK CHAMP, and the Victorinox Classic with Nail Clipper and a Camillus 12 inch machete with a Saw Back that really works.. In order to make the Compass Useful one has to have a Map, the Compass alone was useless if you had no idea where you were going. Radio's will be Useless since the Government will take over all Communications systems. Cellphones will useless. for the same reason. So instead of pulling these items together, you need to actually take them out into the field on a 3 day trip. I use a Military Issue Day Pack and it weighs 15 pounds, filled with lightweight useful gear, not toys, and useless items that are cheap and will fail easily. that Flat Whistle we tested at a Football Field and it was only good for 50 yards, whereas a Whistle with a Pea in it is good for over 110 yards...

This is awesome! I’ve been looking for a video covering the get home basics to keep in my smaller edc motorcycle backpack. I just ordered the wisport 20 very excited to fill it.😁 I won’t need extended get home supplies in that bag. I’m building a small trauma kit including emergency response items for others. The pulse Oximeter is such a good idea!(I’ve witnessed a few moto accidents so an emergency blanket is good to prevent hypothermia from blood loss. Also my neighbor broke his arm falling on the ice and there were only emergency vehicles running that day, no ambulances available due to a bad snow storm. You truly never know what’s going to happen!) I love your idea of a 2 level system. Definitely going to implement that. Thanks for the video 👍

I’m definitely adding a pulse oximeter to my first aid kit. Thanks! I find the Leatherman Skeletool at 142 grams has pliers, cutters, a good blade, 4 screwdriver bits; all the features really needed, and the add-on ratcheting bit driver gives it the ability to do so many other things. You can even modify saw blades to fit in the bit holder. I also carry the Solitaire flashlight that you show. I really like it. I’m not liking the LED lights anymore. Too bright, and others can see me too much. My headlamp is always on red anyway.

Selfie Stick is good for you younger people. As you get older, you can transition to trekking poles. And once you get old enough, a cane. A cane with a big brass head is a formidible weapon. Fortunately, where I live, we have permitless carry, and our "stand your ground" and "castle doctrine" are still valid outside of the home. (in your car and on the street.) Situational awareness is an important part of it though.

When I was 27, I am now 55, me and a friend spent 3 months in the himalayas walking to everest. I took everything with me for a serious walk. I had no gadgets, it was the mid nineties, just a proper knife, radio, lifestraw, iodine, lots of medical stuff, painkillers, electrolytes, lots of vitamins, torch, eating spork combo, good sleeping bag, as mountain lodges were dirty, maps, a large stick as there were wolves in the mountains, though I never saw them just heard them howl at night which was scary enough, and lots of common sense, you need that above everything! Obviously clothes and cleaning, sterilisation but always at a minimum. The medical kit actually saved my life because later on at the end of my trek I got cholera, the syringes , needles and lines for a drip were a lifesaver, literally...just a thought, a long walk home requires the right boots, trainers are no good, have a pair of used walking boots in the car, plus socks and military gloves, hands get dirty on a long march

My PSK which I EDC when I go more than a few kilometres from home is just a “stuck outside overnight” kit which can double as a get home bag in the city, I call it the “OLOK PSK” (One Litre One Kilo) so I have an emergency poncho, a mylar blanket, a fixed blade knife, some first aid items, several ways to start a fire and a small pry tool (CRKT viva pocket tool) and a cotton bandana and a pair of gloves. Anything much heavier would be too inconvenient to EDC since I travel on foot or by bicycle most of the time.

Deodorant spray is another good option for self defence in close quarters where you can spray it into the eyes and get out of there. With knives it depends what country you live in. In South Africa knife attacks are very common. I was attacked and received a collapsed lung while defending myself against 6 assailants and had to walk 5 km to hospital due to my cousin going into shock because of seeing the blood and crashed the car. So I would say knowing how to fight hand to hand and with weapons against many attack vectors is important. Very Nice pack setup 👍 and great device for checking your vitals. Those folding scissors are nice to👌.

Adding something to the selfie stick: make sure you actually use it as a selfie stick. If it comes up in court that you ended up bludgeoning someone with it and there's no record of you using it for its intended purpose, people might start asking questions. A stick is also a lot easier for an assailant to grab than a knife, so make sure you know how to fight with a stick too.

Just one thing. Using the pulse oximeter to check a pulse is a great idea. But you could get a false read or its damaged. Make sure if you are trained to fall back on your CPR training, so.manually check the pulse in the correct locations and then proceed to do CPR if needed. Remember time is of the essence.

Another thing my kind of goes along with the GPS idea, download topographic maps of your area and areas you may need to navigate in a pinch or government decides to take people in interment camps or whatever they call those camps there. Have those maps you can read already downloaded on your phone. Good topo maps can be very useful along with regular maps of areas in satellite view which is what I like. Lilly you could always get one of those flashlight/tazers ..those work great and are pretty much legal everywhere ..i used to rock one of those untill the battery died down and couldnt support the tazer only the flashlight ..they work great even if you are being attacked by mad dogs as soon as they hear the crackling sound of the tazer they just skiddadle you dont even have to connect ..works great on two legged mad dogs too 😂 the heavier they are the harder the fall you just got to know where to connect it ...the neck shocks both the brain and the heart specially if you connect with the aorta ...chest or center chest shocks the heart and the respiratory system...and lets not forget the "happy sacks" 😂 thats when they drop like a bag of potatoes while singing in soprano 😂 ..take care Lilly 😎

I’ve given the coupe de grace to a bunch of animals with a knife while hunting. One thing I’ve learned from that is that I really, really never want to get in a knife fight. It’s always on me, and it would deliver a heavy enough blow to convince someone to try it on with someone else.

I really love the advice about the selfie stick. I live in the US. Only a couple of states allow concealed carry, and you need permits. I am in the most restrictive part of the US, the northeastern states. We can't even carry a pocket knife with a blade longer than 3 inches. A selfie stick is a great idea! Every time you speak of having to get home, my mind goes to when the Twin Towers in NY came down. Everyone had to walk many miles, over the the bridges, to get away from the fires, smoke, and cement dust. So many have died from lung cancer since then, both first responders and civilians. One of my cousins was a first responder there, and he suffered for years until he passed away. Nearly 500 people from my county and the county next to us were lost. I think of myself if I had been a survivor who had to walk home, how much difference it would make if I had a get-home bag. If they all had carried get home bags, particularly gas masks with several spare filters. You do a great service showing what to put in a get home bag. I would add aspirin and Tylenol, and two days worth of prescription medication. If the 3M mask you show is used, perhaps a pair of goggles would help. Thick smoke and carcinogenic dust must be kept out of the eyes. May I suggest that you advise women who wear heels that they should carry a quality pair of sneakers and a pair of thick socks. Perhaps also a pair of pants or even just leggings if they normally wear dresses or skirts. Feminine hygiene products also. Thank you, Lilly, for this video, and all the others you do. Never stop reminding us that our well-being is not guaranteed, and that there are steps we can take to give ourselves the best chance of survival.

Only a couple do states DON’T allow concealed carry my friend … you probably need to do a little more research … I am ccw licensed and I can travel to most states with the USA with zero issues … getting licensed in one additional state would allow me to carry in almost every state minus just a couple … Many states make it very difficult but most states to have concealed carry licenses… look up “concealed carry reciprocity laws”

@@zombiemom5088 Thank you for your input. I stand by what I said. Getting permitted to carry here (different from owning or transporting) requires a very solid reason, usually having to do with employment, and it's still tough. Restrictions are tight. It's nowhere near as easy as out west. Reciprocity is a different matter, coming in from a different region. I don't need to look it up, thank you very much, as I'm already familiar. I'm sorry you assumed ignorance in my case. And of course I was talking about demonstration of need in order to be permitted, not collectable bragging rights. But congrats on yours.

Regarding self defense, in a pinch a glass soda bottle could be effective - full or empty, intact or broken, still functional.

Might consider swapping the selfie stick for a 3 D cell Maglight flashlight. Aluminum, good weight, and has a function you'll need anyway.

In Texas the legal system has the ability to classify anything you use as a weapon or a deadly weapon, even if it’s not designed as a weapon. The key is knowing your self defense rights and what level of harm you can inflict to defend yourself. Make sure your not going past the fine line of self defense with a stick, to assault with a weapon, or worse charges. It’s not the random item that makes the fight legal it’s making sure you don’t go past defense and into murder because you continued to beat someone after they stopped attacking you. Vs a kill shot /or blow that stops the violence suddenly while you are being attacked.

The top end smart watches are pretty accurate for oxygen and pulse... not as good as hospital buy possibly as good as the one you have. Plus gives you all the benfits of a smart watch... i like the ones with gps.

I didn’t notice any type of water purification in your 2nd level kit. A Life-Straw or Sawyer Mini would work great in it. It is a very nice kit though.

A crowbar? A lock-pick? A head-torch? This is more like Survival Lilly's burglary kit than a survival kit. 😉

That's exactly how many police forces around Europe would see it if the person was ever stopped and searched. Instant free ride in the van or car with flashing lights, then a long spell being interviewed or sat in a holding cell.

the torch is a better weapon than the selfie stick ... that is what the sharp ring on the front is for, you stab the attacker in the face with it or jam it somewhere soft (like a kubotan)

I am not Austrian but the way how I understand the law in Europe there is not much difference between hurting anyone with any "dangerous tool". Sure, it's easier to construct line of legal defense over selfie stick than a prybar but you'd be surprised how little the type of item means compared to the circumstances and damage done.

The selfie stick would be legally treated or described in weapon terms as a telescoping steel baton. ( illegal in the UK 🇬🇧 )
