Can't wait. Not a bad attempt at a Wolves accent given that Beanie Feldstein is American and most Brits can't even pull that accent off. More importantly she's a brilliant actress and perfect for this role. Yes, they could have gone with Helen Monks who (brilliantly) plays the young Caitlin Moran in Raised by Wolves, and nails the accent because she's Brummie. But there are more important things than accents.
@Char10tti34 жыл бұрын
Helen is probably too old now because she was basically playing 15 in series 1 of Raised by Wolves. I've seen the clips they are using in America and I think Beanie just has more star power. It might get confusing having Helen play Germaine and Caitlin, but I would have liked to see her to be honest.
@jtuck354 жыл бұрын
@@Char10tti3 I think the two actresses are about the same age actually, but I agree that Beanie's star power is why they cast her. And she is fantastic, it will be worth a slightly shaky accent for everything else she brings to the role.
@davidjames5794 жыл бұрын
@@jtuck35 Not a bad attempt. It sounds nothing like the region, let alone the place. What accent were her coaches teaching her? Also, does she have star power? She was co lead in Booksmart, and that was released when this filmed. I'm puzzled as to her casting. Normally you get an American star to sell internationally, not just any American.
@jtuck354 жыл бұрын
@@davidjames579 Star power in comparison to anyone else who was likely to be accessible for a film like this, especially in terms of hitting the US market. Booksmart is an ideal CV (she was also the best friend in Lady Bird), since this is also a coming-of-age comedy about a bright but unorthodox teenage girl. She basically signposts what this film is for US audiences who wouldn't otherwise know what to make of this slightly bewildering kaleidoscope of Britpop references. As for the accent, you'll note that I said 'not a bad attempt'... and then some other conditional stuff which you ignored. I doubt you'll find a US actor out there who can actually pull off a Wolvo accent. This is better than I would have expected.
@davidjames5794 жыл бұрын
@@jtuck35 "Star power in comparison to anyone else who was likely to be accessible for a film like this". That's not accurate, there's loads of British actresses of the right age range who are more well known than she is. She didn't have star power at the time as Booksmart was just releasing (which wasn't sold on names) and a supporting role in an Indie film doesn't count as fame. Not a bad attempt? Except it is a bad attempt. You're ignoring what I said. The conditional stuff is irreverent as I'm not discussing her acting ability, I'm questioning her casting, esp in light of her inability to do a consistent accent, let alone one that resembles Midlands.
