How to Build a Jeep Wrangler High Clearance Long Arm Suspension

Its time to build a ultra high ground clearance rear suspension! We finished up the flush shocks in the previous video, now its time to tackle the lower control arms. Ive been more than happy with the setup currently, it drives really nice on the road, made the axle and long arm swap very simple, but its time to set this up for a little more offroad use!
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
This setup is for a long arm 3 link rear
Moving brackets up will reduce separation from the upper mount, make sure you at least keep 9"+, in my case with the 14bolt and high 3 link upper mount i still have around 11.75" of separation. So make sure you have a tall 3 link truss mount.
2 door body mounts will need to be reinforced, on a 4 door the cut mount is an extra added to the 4 door (we can still gusset it up for more strength).
If you raise both brackets up with the OHF brackets, they will both move up equally around 2.5".
This setup from Outta Hand Fab is designed for a high offroad clearance long arm rear suspension on a JK and they are soon coming out with a new rear shock/control arm combo mount. We will soon test this out on the trails to see how the new long arm suspension works out on the JKU!

Instead of making your arms shorter you could have gotten flush mount frame brackets from Barnes as well and welded them where ever you need them on the side of the frame. Then retained the same length arms and less work. That’s exactly what I did when I loved my stuff to flush mount and higher clearance.

Great video!!… I have a couple questions… before you start is it possible to measure the degree of the lower control arm before disassembling so when remounting would be in spec? Second question… if you start on axle side removing/attaching new bracket… it seems you wouldn’t have to cut the length of the arm, mount arm and bracket the locate on frame… 🤔 just sayin.. 🍻

Any chance you can give a review on those green label tires after running them awhile. Want to know if they are worth the money or to try something else. Also want to know how the sidewalls hold up to hard wheeling

yeah man of course. So far they are amazing Grip great in the rocks and even when its wet. Have 4 wheeling trips on them and over 3K road miles

Nice clearance upgrade. I do have a question... you have a lift and pull into it but why don't you use it? I also have a hight issue with my lift(10' ceiling), which is still better than laying on the floor with all those sparks

You would need a truss or a 3 link realistically.

Have to support the axle if we are hanging the jeep in the air since we are removing the control arm. Easier to have the axle in position at ride height and adjust it around on the ground by myself vs worrying about axle stands and jacks to hold it in spot

I’ve built this jeep to this level by recording every step of the way and making videos so people can learn and follow along. This video and job applies to the same as any lifted jeep whether it has tons, Dana 44, Hemi, 3.8, blah blah blah. You missed the point of the video, and tried to turn it into a diss on me??? lol ok Chris.

I 3 linked my JK and ARB locked/geared my own junkyard tons watching Ben's videos. I got custom aluminum links (2.5") and different joints. I drive it to work 25 miles each direction every day. Drove it to TN 500 miles not long after breaking it in. Wheeled windrock for 3 days after. Drove it home another 500 miles. It's just a capable 4dr trail rig that I would take anywhere.
