PLEASE READ:
As much as I hate to admit it, I snapped the board while riding. Don't make the same mistake as me. Use more veneers!!!!!
Setup:
3 veneers of 1/8 inch baltic birch, 1 veneer of 1/16 inch maple
Paris gold 180 mm trucks
O'tang yellow durians
Glue: Titebond III
Song: Finally Moving by Pretty Lights. I do not own the song nor am I affiliated with Pretty Lights

Great video on the subject. This is the best and most helpful video I've found so far and probably the one I'll use to guide me in making my board. But just out of curiosity, how much pressure did you have the board under when it snapped? Was it during a sharp stressful turn? I just don't want to go through the trouble and snap the board.

no he needed to cross grain the layers i build boards for a living was a very nice board but not very strong
@Infinityhorus01
@Infinityhorus01 7 жыл бұрын
So you build boards for a living? Poor customers i must say. Crossgraining is the most stupid idea you could possibly have. Wood is like 1 million times stronger along the grain. By rotating every second layer of wood by 90 degrees you effectively make the board half as strong as it could be. I make it easy for you, imagine a board made from solid wood, the grain goes along the length of the board. What happens if you step in the middle of that board? Right! Nothing, solid as a rock. Now think of a solid wood board with the grain across the lenght of the board, it probably breaks from the weight of your shoe. So if you want to make a super strong board dont crossgrain, its much better to match the grain direction and add in a few layers of carbon/glassfiber just to stop the board from splitting along the grain.

Not really its like 100 for lumber 50-70 for trucks and paint and stuff was free so no it wouldnt cost more especially since he made a nice quality board (though he should have used bamboo)it costs way less with most good quality pre built boards costing upwards of 300 bucks

Ya but I'm just saying the quality of my board and even if I was pricey I'd rather have trust worthy than just saving money and getting something that not as good or last as long cus I'm really happy with my landyacths caliber trucks and blood orange wheels with an extra set of bear 50 trucks and loaded racing gloves (my dad paid for my shit) but point is I'd rather have a pricey reliable board than a chince board that'll last maybe a year

Hey man! That's a sick board! However, some tips to make it sturdier would be to 1)put the maple in the middle instead of the bottom, 2) add more polyurethane (preferably 4 coats of brush on instead of spray on) and 3) fiberglass and epoxy resin makes it extremely sturdy if you apply it before the poly. You could also use 1/4 inch baltic birch instead of 1/8. But again man, awesome board! Keep it up!
