Hey guys Ryan here again.
This video is showing you one of my prototype ideas for a movable motorbike storage box/motorbike shed,motorbike shelter
In this video I am trying to store a Honda cbr 600rr (blue) and a Honda cbr 1000rr fireblade (orange)
Its a very simple but effective idea to help you keep the rain and dirt away from your pride a joy.
One looks like Valentino rossi bike ( 46 ) and the other looks like marc marquez bike ( 93 )
I tried to buy a waterproof motorcycle cover, but they all looked naff and I couldnt see the bikes.
So I designed these motorbike sheds to suit my motorbikes exactly.
They are on wheels so can be moved and are good enough to store most motorcycles

Thanks, I was just thinking there was an easier and better looking way to covers motorbikes. I think just better/smoother wheels and using a waterproof material such as marine ply would improve them after having them for a while now.

Your welcome! One thing to think about is using a good water resistant material. Marine ply would be a good call with a few coats of outdoor paint or varnish/lacquer. Also cover the roof section with felt if out in the rain. 😁

Awesome design. Just another option and probably more expensive but might work is a drawer-like contraption where you ride the bike onto a platform that extends out from the box. Then you just slide the platform (with bike on it) back into the box. Maybe you would need to hinge the front wall to do this though. It might just be more space saving and easier to get in and out. Just an idea.

Might pay to use Markalon or some other replacement instead of glass? Thieves would find it all to easy to cut out a glass panel with a home glass cutter! Also some VERY LARGE padlocks to fasten everything down? Finally one extra box for the biggest, meanest dog you can find!! Other than that great ideas well thought out!!!

Thanks! I'd advise using marine ply and painting as I found the parts that got wet on my boxes soaked up the water and went moldy. Even WBP ply would do the trick. I'd recommend using felt on the top too if there isnt a shelter. Ryan

I would paint those boxes so they look like die-cast models packaging. Burago, Maisto or Kyosho... :-) ...with a cool oversized price tag, like £89.95 on each. At the end of the day those bikes are your big-boys-toys.

I'd like an update on this project. I want to make something similar but to hide (not display) bicycles that are being targeted by thieves. Something light weight enough for me to move but perhaps could also have plants left on top so as to look inconspicuous to anyone who peers over the fence. I would have bike racks bolted to the concrete path underneath so I don't want to build something with a base. I don't want it permanently anchored as that might pose a problem for trade work required at my place in future. What you have shown is the closest thing I have seen to what I need..
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I guess you just want to make something very similar to these boxes. Perhaps use 12mm marine ply and so heavier duty castor wheels. If it's in the rain then the roof can be felted. If it doesnt need a display, then make all sides solid panels and possibly 1 short side could be hinged? Make sure you put a finish of some kind on the box if it's in the weather such as paint or varnish. I hope that helps Ryan

Very nice. I have a suggestion and a few question. Suggestion 1st. You may want to look into THIN skateboard wheels. The won't be loud and scratchy like the ones in the video and you can install them with a bolt from the side. The double bearings should keep them straight. If not, a small reinforcement block added to the sidewall. Questions - What did you use for a dehumidifier? Did you install glass and did it work or break. I ask because it is a very large area for glass being moved so much. BEAUTIFUL bikes, btw.
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the suggestions and the skate board wheels are a genius idea, seriously. In the end I didn't put the glass in, I decided to upcycle the materials and build an inclosed shed for the instead. I do have a video of that too

@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, anything left out doors would probably have condensation issues. If this had the glass in I'd definitely put some vents in, maybe one either side. You could always put a dehumidifier in there. Some improvements on these boxes would be to use marine ply and use felt on the roof. Cheers Ryan

Just make the glass/Perspex viewing area at the front smaller in height, and cut a few 500x50mm vents in the plywood above and below the viewing panel and put mesh covering the vents or on each end cut a square hole 200mm x 200mm and cover with a louvred vent panel.

This is a nice idea but the wheels do not need to be on the edges of the box. If you make a metal frame and put struts that will slip in front of the rear and behind the front wheel leaving room for the center stand.
