Thank you. I'm glad you have used some of the information in my videos to make your pond. It is good that the cascade works well as that is sometimes the most difficult part to get right. Best wishes, Richard

That sounds like a very practical way of covering them up. I'd honestly never thought of doing that but maybe there are situations where it would be required so that's a great tip, thanks, man.

Good evening from Brittany; That's just to inform you that I've finished my own pond with a cascade this week. I've found (of course) a lot of inspiration from your excellent and beautiful work; Yesterday, i've tested the cascade; it looks good and nice; My daughter Maïwenn is so happy and she told me to to thank you I need for this pond a pump and a filter because Maï wants to see fishes in next april (3 maxi); For my part, I started to put aquatics and edges plants have a good continuation!

Hello, I've just seen your last video about the raised wooden pond. il feel really impressed by your skillness. I listened to your explanations and, as far as possible, tried to understand them (I'm not from England). This pond looks like a mirror and,sure, will be very appreciated by his owner. You are an artist!

Nice video, very informative. I enjoy watching someone explain what they are doing, at least someone who actually knows what they are talking about. So many videos are from folks who haven't a clue. I don't even "have" an aquarium or pond but I find it interesting how you construct them, each installation being custom to the surroundings. Again, thanks for some great videos. peace

If I am passing I will get an update but that will be in the Spring. Glad you found the video useful and are looking to build something similar. I'm not sure about it not feeling like I do a days work - getting wet and cold every day for 6 months of the year soon gets wearing - lol. I put my back out on the first day of this build and had to do the rest in pain. Its either do that or don't get paid which is the main drawback of working for yourself - what a bummer.

Great video, you explained it really well, I'm looking at building almost exactly the same pond as in your video accept it won't be on top of decking. Really impressed that 2 foot high walls made of wood are strong enough to support that volume of water. I'm planning my pond same as yours but 2.4 x 1.4 x 1.2 meters deep and you've just given me some great ideas, Thanks :)

Brilliant videos and very informative. I'm almost ready to tackle my own pond restoration project. It needs a new underlay and liner, along with a pump and filter. I've decided to use the Auto Cleaning Pressurised Pond Filter PFC-75000 With Built-In 55w from ALL POND SOLUTIONS. Might even have a bash at making my own gravity shower. Keep up the good work and take care. Cheers, John

I've done a few jobs in Jesmond. This one was just over the river at Gateshead. Plants don't need any oxygenation in the pond but if you intend to have fish in there too it would be beneficial for them to have water movement. A pump and filter which runs 24/7 is always better than a temporary fountain so if there's any way of getting electricity to the pond it would be advantageous. Most solar fountains / pumps are very unreliable just like the English 'summer'. Thanks for the sub, man.

I really like your videos. Your attention to detail is exemplary. I assume - because I live in Arizona - that your insulation of the above deck pond framing is to account for the cooler temperatures. Interestingly, the subsurface in Arizona encourages a minimal depth of 4 feet in order to benefit from the soil - caliche - in moderating the extreme temperature changes over a 24hr period. I will look closer at insulation as many pond owners loose fish here assuming the day time highs are year round, which they are not. I am a backyard enthusiast only, but your videos are top shelf!
@pondguru
@pondguru 8 жыл бұрын
+Jim Cameron Thanks very much for enjoying the videos. Yes the insulation prevents wild swings in temperature as raised ponds can get very cold in winter or very warm in summer. In the UK our days can be very warm and nights can be cold much like Arizona so if we can level out those extremes it is much better for the fish. Ultimately a large volume of water will be less subjected to fluctuations than a small body of water but insulating definitely helps.
