Marvel's new Moon Knight show is about to come out, and he's such a dynamic character so I had to dive in and figure out how to build him in DnD. Trying to use all of his core abilities, and really account for his multiple personalities turned into an interesting multiclass

I think I remember Jeremy Crawford saying that a barbarian *does* get their rage damage with unarmed strikes.

I didn't know that, I know it says that it has to be a weapon attack, but if unarmed is factored in, that's a huge boost to damage!!!

@@dndbuilds yeah, I just looked through sage advice. He says unarmed strikes are considered melee weapon attacks. There's a bit explaining why it makes sense to word it that way, but I don't get that part.

Thanks for explaining the comic lore, otherwise most people would think MK as a Batman copy. Easy to fall since they share similar weapons, vehicles and even a "cave". Alternative builds: Start as monk later choose kensey. For the egiptian god pact Oath of Antients Warlock, War or Twilight D. Cleric

I love the themes behind Twilight Cleric and Oath of the Ancients, but I just couldn't get behind needing to have some Charisma or Wisdom due to his general personality in the comics. Wisdom seems to go against the whole "Fractured Mind" thing to me, and he's not exactly beloved by most of the people around him, so Charisma can be difficult too. But for theme and general mechanics of the build, that would be an awesome choice.

@@dndbuilds Completly agree. My bad. I was thinking on the original comic character who believes he was revived by that god, not on how to use the stats on the game. Thankfully It doesn't require skill checks when uses the Cleric or Warlock special features on himself. My build bumps down STR in exchange for DEX or Char. Maybe just 1-2 lv unarmed fighting style Fighter to beging, then Warlock or cleric would fit

This was definitely a fun build to make, and definitely the first time I've attempted this type of multiclass. So hope you and all of your personalities living in your head enjoy this Moon Knight build EDIT: This whole time I completely thought that the new show was coming out this weekend... turns out it's not hitting Disney+ until the 30th... I'm good with DnD Builds but not so great with dates

Is it possible to multiclass this Moon Knight with a Warlock?? (Since he has Khonshu as a Patron and draws power from them)

@@janwarlock You could if you really wanted to, but you would need different stats. The Multiclassing rules in DnD require that you have at least 13 in the main stat(s) of a class to multiclass into or out of a class. So you would need 13 in CHA in order to pull it off, still possible, just need different stat points.

Very very interesting build! Loved the vid and subscribed haha. I personally built a moon knight inspired character using the kalashtar race since they had this dual mind thingy going for em. For class wise I chose the echo knight fighter and later multiclassed into a celestial warlock. I roleplayed the echo as a different personality or khonshu himself who stalked me around just like the show. My gm also let me reflavor eldritch blasts as me throwing the magical crescent darts at people and we also homebrewed a weapon known as the moon dagger for melee fights. Your build makes way more sense tho. Would certainly use it in an upcoming campaign.

@@dndbuilds you could maybe do Thor as a lightning Dragonborn, too. Then he gets the buffs and saves in all the normal Thor traits, like strength, con, or charisma

I was not seeing Barbarian as an option. Your just surprising me with all of your choices. I would've thought Rogue would've fit somewhere in their or something to do with phantoms and spirits.

This was definitely one of the builds that there's a lot of paths to try, but I thought this would probably turn out to be the most true to his fighting style, while still having the theme of his character. But I could see how a Phantom Rogue could be worked in a little.

That could definitely work, but would probably need to go with Celestial Warlock. Focus all of the healing from Celestial Warlock on yourself for self healing (the aspects of vengeance and resilience would play in pretty well). Then mix in some Fighter for some versatility and it could definitely make an interesting build.

@@dndbuilds oh its definitely fun, with my weapon proficiencies I switched it up and use a little bit of everything kinda like peacemakers fighting style, of course I had to get his signature sun shaped boomerangs (couldn't make him an exact clone)

Cool builf. If you end up in a campaign where you roll for higher states I would maby added 3 levels in vergence paliden and used the charisma for intimidation and a few levels in twilight Claric.

As far as I'm aware, the Fighting Initiate feat cannot be taken twice (as per feat rules), even if it's for a different style. (Also, my apologies if you've heard this before.) So, I'd swap the Human (Variant) feat for Fighting Initiate (Unarmed Fighting) -- which makes sense given Mark's background -- then go early on multiclassing for a level of Fighter at Moon Knight's 2nd level, grabbing Thrown Weapon Fighting and the underrated Second Wind. Follow that by sliding back over to Barbarian until Extra Attack is reached, then pick up those two levels of Divination Wizard because they feel more important early on. Finally, tackle the rest of Barbarian and use that empty 16th level Ability Score Improvement to max out Constitution and gain even more hit points. I just didn't find Indomitable Might as important, but I might be missing the bigger picture. And sure, you could go for another level in Fighter for Action Surge, but you miss out on an additional die for Brutal Critical, a fourth bout of rage, and that last improvement on rage damage. With all the work put into Rage at that point, it almost feels criminal otherwise.

Yeah, I think it's a bit silly that feat is only allowed once, and I didn't learn that until I did my Zoro from one piece build. But I like your alternatives!!!

Interesting. You should do a few marathon sit downs and do all the major marvel and dc heroes/villains. Maybe invincible and other characters also

I plan to do plenty of villains, and I'll be driving deep into Marvel and DC. I do happen to love the Invincible comics, that would definitely be a challenge, but I'll give it a shot. But marathon videos will definitely be rare, that's a ton of editing lol, however maybe if there was enough interest I could do a live stream in the future with some rapid builds.

@@dndbuilds i didnt mean marathon videos... just where you "sit down a while" and work out a bunch on paper/computer/in your head... I have no idea how long it takes you to work these out. Back in younger days... I played D&D... Original... 2nd Edition... 3rd Edition...and a variation of the BIRTHRIGHT campaign. (Which I think of as "2.5" edition)... Also being a comic nerd... I used the Birthright rules to create several comicbook character NPCs.

If there was a stat for interceptions that would be a very unique game mechanic, it would definitely get a boost from the Interception Fighting Style that Fighters get

I plan to do a bit of a parody build video for them, since Toei animation has a reputation for copyright striking people into oblivion. I might just have to refer to them as LizardSphere Zeta and build them in code.

Avocado - 1 hp, randomly has either 16 AC or 8 AC depending on Ripeness. But it's impossible to tell whether or not it's ripe until an attack roll has been made on it.
