Using the right setups you can setup ships that will fly faster than 20km/s in Eve Online, while this is a long way short of the kind of 'ludicrous speed' fits that were nerfed in Quantum Rise expansion, it's still faster than anything else you're going to encounter in the game.

+Rimantas V now let's remember that the capsule from the EVE universe has a mass of 32 tons, it's manned, it can withstand a couple of direct hits from an average weapon of that time, the pilot is able to perceive space around him outside the vessel and the engine runs on a virtually infinite source of energy. The mass of the ship featured in this video is 823 tons and it can do so much more than the capsule. Also try looking up "eve online maximum speed", you'll find out that there are ship builds that can make the fitted vessel go even faster.

Well, to fly even 0.1 AU it would take more then 8.6 days to complete, let along some of those god awful 100 AU warps. Those would take 23 years to complete at 20 km/s.

Fitting oversized MWD on a frigate is a stunt, but fitting a 100MN MWD on a cruiser - like a Stabber Fleet Issue, and using it to bump ships is a hugely useful technique. For example it has been used to stop freighters escaping so that war targets can race to the system and tackle it. It's also an amusing way to annoy miners.

Scott Manley I regret I haven't explored your content enough to notice you also played Eve Online before now; I tend to only get the KSP ones in my feed. Now I have seen this one, it got me thinking. Have you contemplated how problematic it would be if orbital mechanics were in effect in the game? I mean, surely, accelerating beyond Earth's escape velocity would have severe consequences on your ability to get back to where you came from, moving in straight lines, etc.

@ChrisRaptor1 Have you got the latest version of Eve HQ - remember the Navy Power Cores have been buffed. And I was also using a PG10 implant.

@isturiel EveHQ may not be up to date, With the crucible release they upgraded the Navy Micro Auxillary power cores to increase their power grid bonus, although at the same time they nerfed the dramiel's power grid. This fit definitely works on the current version of Tranquility.

If you get an avatar in the command chain then that fit will be cap stable at 66%. Of course it's impossible to take advantage of that and the bonus provided by a class 6 wormhole. But yes, as I mentioned, you can in fact do better if you have access to officer gear. I should update it now that officer loot is available on the market

@PvtMartin78 You can only use one of those at a time, and if you have multiple fleet leaders giving bonuses only the biggest bonus is applied. In the old days you used to be able to fit multiple MWD's and get silly speeds, they fixed that too.

@RaspberryJamm Back in the Quantum Rise release they nerfed speed fits by making many of the speed implants take the same slot, so if you want Shaqil's speed enhancer then you need to give up a snake Omega.

@WilsonYu343 Technically, if you use the new Genolution gift implants then you can get enough grid and CPU to fit some 125mm guns, a point, cap booster and a shield extender. So, at the very least you can tackle...

@drew12178 You don't remember correctly, the Taranis doesn't have enough power grid, even with the new fitting modules and implants, to fit any kind of cruiser sized MWD. And, even if you could, it'd still peak at 36km/s in a Class 6 Black hole.

You can get an even better bump by warping to a broken bookmark in the middle of a star. And the crusader fit can't get up to top speed because it runs out of capacitor.

Here is a comparison of speed, all using km/s to help put things in perspective: 300,000 km/s (Light) 130 km/s (Andromeda galaxy approaching us) 70 km/s (Helios, fastest man made object) 20 km/s (EVE Dramiel) 17 km/s (Voyager 1) 8 km/s (Space Shuttle reentry) 1 km/s (Blackbird aircraft, manned aircraft) 0.340 km/s (Sound)

If you build a perfect Cynabal in EFT or PYFA then the speed on paper is 20.6. add in the wormhole effects and it's 41.2. Unfortunately, that's 'On Paper' - the speed in game ends up slower because the stacking match breaks down. You're welcome to prove me wrong with a video.

Much more accurate than your other post. It's not "experienced FC" so much as having knowledge to base actions upon. It doesn't take that long to gain the experience to do this stuff but it does take *DOING IT* vs just reading or talking about it.

Right so, your speed is based on EFT numbers, if I take the EFT numbers for this Dramiel then it says it should travel about 1km/s faster than it actually does in the game. If you do find that C6 Black Hole on Sisi message me and we'll test all these suggestions in the lang of ludicrous speed.

Wow this game seems mind blowing. So detailed and looks great to. And everyone playing on the same server, that's crazy cool. The only things that puts me off is the fee to play and how daunting it is to learn all the features.

Sure, but it's about the actual max speed, look at the stiletto, it's faster on paper but runs out of capacitor before it can reach top speed.

Fighter pilots can survive at most ~9 g's for a few seconds before blacking out and possibly dying, and 3 g's is a normal rocket launch. At 10:26 - 10:49, you decelerated at 5,545 m/s^2, or a geforce of 565 g's. A normal person would be crushed around 75 g's..

about 3weeks into Eve, I recommend it. They have a trial on and last i remember they have a special where you pay a little less and get freebies for one of the four races. gives a ship a bunch of skill books, ammo, and a few other things.

In the distant future (somewhere around 2300), such deep space vessels will be launched by a series of mass drivers (aka rail guns) distributed around the solar system. They might be able to get to speeds in excess of .3c utilizing massive amounts of energy, but the vessel itself will not produce thrust other than to do course correction. If they do generate significant thrust, it would only be to decelerate.

the corp i was in was on the receiving end of that tactic once. most of us were miners. we knew a hostile was in the system, but he was there never logging off, hidden to keep us on edge. suddenly the system spiked with tons of ships. in the end they blew up a pos and got one or two mining ships. so while i never flew them, i would say try it out when you have the free time to train up the skills.

Actually there's enough grid and CPU to fit 125mm autocannons (which the dram gets bonuses for). Good luck actually hitting anyone with them at that speed.

There ARE however some t3 cruisers, which change their images completely with different subsystem load-outs. But there are only 4 different types of t3 cruisers, while there are literally hundreds of other types of ships to use. EVE is awesome. :D

Getting hit relies on two things (for turrets anyway). Angular velocity vs Turret tracking speed and Distance vs Optimal range + Falloff. If you were going in a straight line away from the person, in a sniper fit, they would hit you without much of a problem. same would apply if you ran directly at someone, turrets don't have to track much. If you were orbiting at 20km however at that speed, You would be very difficult, if not impossible to hit with anything other than fast tracking frigates

the closet thing i flew to a black op ship is the stealth bomber. which can use the same kind of cloak as the black op ships. but from what little i know about them, they can be good if you know what you're doing. they give up some of their combat power for their sneaky ops. and they seem to be best suited when used in gruops. one guy can sneak into hostile space, light a covert beacon, and a BO battleship can open a speacl bridge that only BP ships can use to have a group destroy a target.

Although we speed pilots were nerfed again, and this really isn't feasible for combat, I enjoyed the video. I particularly like that you involved your daughter and are getting another generation interested in Eve. My son actually is the one that got me started. Sadly (especially from my wallet's perspective) he's gotten old enough for girls, cars, and college.

If a vessel were to get to something like .3c (3/10ths the speed of light) then yes, it would have to be cone-shaped to reduce drag through gas clouds. But theoretically, future deepspace vessels wouldn't maintain any kind of impulse at those speeds except to do course corrections because it would be an enormous waste of fuel. The faster an object goes, the more its mass increases, and the more energy is required to propel it.

most ships you can buy at an ncp station provided players supply the ship you want. in 0.0 however, ncp stations are a bit uncommon. in 0.0 players can build spacestions (not the same is pos, as you can't actually DOCK into those) and with those they can set up a market. generally, a corp or two is there for building the ships or hauling tons of supplies from high sec to keep things going. only titans take an obscene amount of time to build, other ships take a few hours to days

This one has very little purpose. I guess you can use its speed to bypass locked acceleration gates in low level DED plex's and then kill the NPC's with the your drones. Oversized MWD's on cruisers are good for bumping industrial ships, for example you might need to push a target away from a station so he can't dock.

Once fitted an apoc with numerous mwd and other relevant speed boost modules/powergrid boosters, back in the days before they nerfed mwds, so i am guessing it would be around 2003. Programmed my controller to activate all modules simultaenously, powergrid instantly at zero, all modules active, speed was measured in au/s, seem to recall about 7 au/s.

if you pop in the two genolution implants, remove two of the cap rechargers (leaving just one true sansha recharger) and put a snake omega back in you can get it to 22.1km/s with the fleet boosting loki

Force Recons are kind of not supposed to be in the combat, they're designed to get in, place a Cyno and get out again. Though they can be good support ships. These are more suited to EWAR. The ships that actually bridge others over are Battleships and thus, hell expensive. They generate a portal using fuel in their cargo bay, and let other ships travel through this portal. Since this is a covert portal, only BlackOps or CovOps ships can pass through it.

Not really, you can take one of hundreds of base hull designs and load them up with weapons, shields, armor, electronics to customize the ship, but the appearance doesn't change much.

ive been looking at the game on steam for a few weeks, question, say you are going 20 km/s if you turn off all over your engines so the afterburner doesnt dmg your engines in space, will you drift safely at that speed? seems logical that you wouldnt slow down

I do believe I saw a guy in a Crow get 46 Km/s once. He was in a wormhole with inertia and speed boosts, loki boosts, full slave set, quafe zero, and some other boosts. It isn't a stable build though, but it hits 46km for a few seconds.

If you want something worth flying, take a look at any one of the black or covert ops ships, They have recons, stealth bombers, EWARs and various gizmos like the Covert Ops Cloak that can only be fitted to black/covert ops ships, The Covert Cynosural and Covert Jumpdrive. They're really cool and a lot more practical compared to Titans.If you look at Scott's "Fountain War Diary" you'll see him & his alliance take down many dreadnoughts in minutes, as the dreadnought's defence force warped off.

The star wars kessel run goes through a constellation of black holes. It's less a race and more a competition for the most daring. That and a test of engine power to weight ratio, to be able to get out from these sharp turns around a black hole. ...At least that's what the Star Wars fandom came up with to patch up measuring race performance in parsecs.

@Kettenfahrzeugfahrer I love my Kerbal Space program, but, if you're going to have a sci-fi universe then you needs to break the laws of physics to make it playable. Taking hours to fly across a solar system at near light speed and years to travel to the nearest star does not make for good gameplay. Take a look at Elite and its sequel Frontier - they went from an aircraft like flight model (fun) to a proper newtonian flight model and destroyed the fun of space combat.

Now see that sounds good. Titans are cool, but these coverts seem more like my kind of approach. What kinds of fire power and abilities do they have? And how big do the covert models get? (I like doing stealth but I also enjoy being able to shoot in and out of situations) I'll check out that vid.

At very high speeds you will actually get slowed down in Space, as it's not a complete vacuum. The ISS has to be boosted into a higher orbit periodically, since it's in a decaying orbit, still in the atmosphere.

When I 1st began playing in March 04 the fastest ship in the game was the Scorpion battlesship. The modules could stack back then, you just loaded up the midslots with mwd's and hit the gas, I think it did over 30km/s lol

ships slow down in space in real life too..... although not as drastically as in eve. The apollo capsules slowed down going toward the moon because Earth's gravity pulled it back. It sped up coming back to Earth again because of gravity pulling on it. BTW the apollo capsules were travelling around 11km per sec on average

that ~20km/s top speed used to be ~47km/s (on a crow or stiletto i think) before "CONCORD" put speed restrictions in New Eden.
