Great antenna guys! Threw it in a tree in the yard this afternoon and made POTA contacts on 40, 20, 17 and 15. Tuned to below 1.5:1 on all those bands with the KX3 internal tuner. Reed AA1RB

Now I see this?! LOL, I just built mine a few hours ago. I tried to figure out how to crimp the ground but couldn't get to it with my cheap tool because the winder and BNC mount kept getting in the way. I just soldered it, so it was reassuring to see this after and know it'll be fine. I'll re-do the zip tie to hold the radiating element though. I'll be testing it out soon!

great instructions Chuck ! the only thing do different is put tape on end of 2 wires before winding . so not to cross . as big Jeem found out. also I take a marker and color the ends . mostly if 3 or 4 wire wind. love the hard work you 4 did to make this great antenna. you guys timed this with solar max nicely ! Their is a great feeling when you make DX contact on a antenna that I made . one of my end fed half wave with 49:1 FT 240-61 stack of 2 has 14 AWG pink antenna wire from DX engineering . takes 500 watt FT8 like a champ . wound with 10 AWG mag wire . Toroid stays cool . slight heating of just the 2 cores . that was 12 meter FT8 so no poker. but was drinking from a pink tumbler when I tested. cold NY day needed hot coffee .they have pink tumbler for breast cancer . both me and girlfriend have ours. Ape and Jeem. that was funny ! 73's

Robert I usually do tape them like you said I may have cut the audio of me saying that not sure and it does help.

Does the single wite that connects to the radiating element alter how the wrapped toroid functions if they touch?

It doesn't seem to you can rout it away some depending on how long you leave the wire.
