I see you have the Binford 800 dremel tool. Good choice. I prefer the Binford 8000 it has a little more torque when you need it. I also heard that the black tie raps resonate better than the white ones. A ham in FL told me that. . great instructional video Ape! keep them coming. 73

Yep, used the dremel tool. Thanks Ape. All my questions stemmed around accidental twisting of the wires that Jim and I both experienced and his suggestion to test continuity before winding. Anyway, this video makes it very clear. Thanks

The easy way to avoid the "crossed wires" problem is to strip the enamel from both ends of *one* wire, that way you have two windings that are marked separately. The centre tap will be one stripped, one unstripped (one from each wire).

nice ! I wind a bunch of toroid's .Ape has a bunch of video's on that. Great reference when I am winding one. The trouble I have is I done some many different ones ,some times I have to look up wrap on the one I need at the time. Chuck has nice video on how to wrap this 4:1 . Jeem has video as well but he crossed the inner and outer. some people ask why square the number. it's simple. in a transformer in turns ratio . as we step up the voltage goes up and the current goes down but the same amount. that difference is squared . in this case we talking impendence ohms . radio is 50 ohm. what this does is bring down antenna impedance to the point that a 3:1 tuner in radio can tune to get a match. I hope to hear and make contact with that antenna some day . 73's
