Raising a baby horse is a rewarding and special journey that every dedicated horse lover deserves to experience! Foal training is a vital part of the process or else you can accidentally raise a 1000lb monster. Getting a Horse to trust you and learning how to approach them correctly will help so much as you build a relationship with your young horse! In this video I'm working with a foal that's never been handled and whose mother is completely untouchable and beginning the first stages of trust and respect between us. The foal is playful and wants to be mouthy but soon allows me to stroke one side of her neck and both sides of her face! Such a cute Foal!

Isn’t she so cute! 🥰 the mare is an untouched wild horse from a dessert called the Chaco. She is a mixed breed of Spanish pony origins. Thank you I will 🩵

I love this! I can’t wait to see her progression with you! Do you plan on working with her mother at all?

Thank you!🤩 So I have tried to work with her mom and even had another trainer come out and try and we both came to the conclusion that she’s unwilling. It’s really hard to train a horse that has no desire to try 😔 so we will most likely sell her if we can somehow get her on a trailer.

That makes sense. At least you've made the connection with her foal. :) @@HorsePerfect

I have a 3 year old that has been to a trainer for six months, and then sent to work cattle to get riding hours under her. When we got her she was wild and seemed traumatized and highly people avoidant. It took months and months before we could even pet her at all, and never could really really pet her. After training we could touch and pet her, but she never really got friendly. Now she's been out to pasture over the winter and won't let me touch her or be near me. She is totally avoidant. She shows no interest in connecting with anyone. I'm sure someone could catch her and she could still be ridden but I would love it if she was actually friendly and liked us. How do you do that? Do you have any videos about that, or tips? Thanks

I need to make a video about how to get a horse to love you. Truth is every horse is different and some Love connection and some run from it even after many hundreds of hours of training you can’t train a horse to love you. And using food is just as big of a mistake. I would say put her through all the exercises in my Essential Groundwork playlist and see if she improves! She should!

She is such a cute foal. There are so many different answers I've found, but what age do you recommend breaking a colt?

She is! There are so many different answers because every horse is different and even every breed is different. I don’t ride horses before age 3. I get the saddle on and everything at 2 sometimes but best to do consistent rides at age 3-4 and that way the horse will not forget everything. Late 2 early 3 and you’ll be on the right track.
