It's been quite a process for me to downsize and declutter my wardrobe and I'm taking you through the whole thing and sharing why I love the Ten Item Wardrobe and how to build your own ten-item, minimalist capsule wardrobe!

Agreed! This video is so refreshing in that she doesn't tell us to have certain pieces. I feel calmer in approaching this and to simply just "shop my own wardrobe".

I am so glad I found your page. I recently got rid of 95% of my clothes because I was wanted to remove all synthetic materials. I’m struggling to have something to wear now as maybe I went to extreme at once. I never had the idea of a capsule wardrobe until I saw your videos and this is definitely the direction I’m going now! I really appreciate you giving ideas beyond the “norm” it doesn’t make me feel like such an odd ball as I have a lot of the same mindsets as you. Thank you ❤❤❤

It is amazing how your minimalist wardrobe is not boring at all! We got season where I live and I am still struggling to get my wardrobe to minimum, since I feel like I need more pieces, because we got snow and really cold winters on the opposite of few hot weeks in the summer.. but I definitely feel the positives of a smaller structured wardrobe whenever I make one for the season😊

Thank you for this amazing video. I have been a minimalist for years and have also downsized my wardrobe. For the last couple of months I have almost had a 10 items wardrobe. As i was preparing my clothes for work in the bathroom - hung up on 5 hangers and have been wearing these items ever since. I can’t yet let go of my other clothes as I do love to switch out an outfit every once in a while but I do feel more comfortable with having 5 outfits - 10 items to wear in different variations. No I feel more comfortable knowing others feel the same way too :-)

I bought two pairs of jeans a little less than a year ago, since that was a gap in my wardrobe, and then my mom gave me a bunch more, so I tried them all on, and ended up with 8 pairs, including capris, and shorts. It seems excessive, but they all fit, look good, and I enjoy having a drawer just for jeans. Plus my husband says I look good in jeans. I love having variety with the light, dark, medium blue, and grey-blue denim, and just purchased a jean jacket online. Of all the years of my childhood in hand-me-downs from my sister, I distinctly recall having an all jean outfit in 4th grade, and loving how that looked with my blue-grey eyes. As my style has evolved over the years, recreating some version of that outfit I loved so much has always been in the back of my mind, and I’m finally doing it! :) I might consider decluttering the couple pairs of jeans with holes in them, despite that they look good that way, because I’m not a fan of putting my leg in, and having my foot come out one of the holes..😂 Small inconvenience, so I don’t tend to reach for those. Sensitive skin has forced me to be a minimalist with jewelry. I would love to have a bit more, but not sure where to find pieces that won’t give me rashes AND would be cute. Open to suggestions. (They’d have to be titanium or stainless steel.)

Love this. So I live in the Pacific NW, and my go to shoes that I wear pretty much every day in the non sandal weather are some broken in Chelsea style boots. They work in rain, snow, comfy enough to walk in, stylish enough to dress up, and easy to slip on. My other go to is having a jacket with a hood that is not too heavy and goes with everything. Ironically even though I had all these really nice leggings, my favorite buttery soft ones that I wear like every day were purchased at a WalMart 5 ish years ago.

Your items from this time period were cute! You have a nice simple style. I am a former vintage fashion blogger, but I used to buy then resell all my clothes and people thought I had a lot of clothes when I didn't. It was fun. Therefore, I am really fashion minded but don't even own anything vintage anymore which is wild. I have never done a capsule wardrobe, but one of my best friends enjoys having one. I also sometimes wear summer items that are layered in the winter, so that is why I don't really do capsules.

Thank you so much for this inspiring video ! I am planning to build my first 10 pieces minimialist wardrobe for fall, and I am very much looking forward to doing it. I live in Provence, South of France, we have hot summers and rather cold winters, yet amont always sunny ; then we have fall and spring which are pretty similar to one another. So I want to build a fall wardrobe which I can also use next spring in 2023 ;)). This will be an interesting journey throughout the twelve coming months ! Thank you again for showing me the way !

My favorite KZfaqr!!! Loved this video and love your style! You presented this idea perfectly. Lately I've been more focused on having 7 outfits plus 1 nicer outfit instead of counting items. That way I only have to wash my clothes 1x week (since I was on delicate and not with the kids clothes). I would say my style is sustainable feminine chic but it's hard with nursing and little kids at the park so after 4 years of 10 item wardrobe I'm still trying to figure out my perfect wardrobe! Plus after having 4 kids i feel very self conscious about my midsection (diastasis recti) so i don't wear certain clothes, but I need to just not care anymore!!! Also I've been into only barefoot shoes as well (earth runners) which kind of clashes with my style LOL ❤️❤️

I really like your style! Second time post partum and I feel my style has changed yet again. Also constantly trying to declutter my closet (and home) and you've inspired me. Although I feel I can't really go as minimal as you (I live in a different climate haha). I do have a question. What do you wear for shoes if you have something formal? Like a wedding (then again, how many weddings does a person go to...)

I live in KY. I'm 52. I can relate to the need for variety and self expression. I live with my husband of 2 1/2 years, in a small 5-room rental house in a semi- country community. One of the 5 rooms is a small walk in closet. I can only store 20 items on hangers in there. While I was married to my second husband he invested in a duplex. Renters live on one side and my ex-husband and our adult son still live in the other duplex apartment. I use the back bedroom to store the personal items I can't bring to THIS house. The bedroom is small... I share a walk in closet with my son. I have spent so much time in that closet.... I can't count the hours.... Because we have all four seasons in Kentucky, I have four sections of clothes. I store most in plastic tubs. Now I have more than will fit in these tubs!! I separated them recently into six-week periods. The left side contains all summer items. Make a quarter turn and higher up hangs the mid-September to mid-October items. On the bed are the October-till Thanksgiving items. In the laundry room, above the washer and dryer, hang the Thanksgiving through New Years Eve clothes. The winter clothes are in the floor of the walk in closet. I have a whole tub full of pants. I have a tub for shoes I'm not currently wearing, too. Exhausted yet?? I take 2-4 outfits with me everytime I'm there, bring them to my new home to wear. I'm still trying to nail down my Kibbe body type. Even though I'm shorter, I do believe I'm a Soft Natural. Also, I've gotten the dye out of my hair. I've been natural color (a mix of champagne gray, light brown and medium brown) for three months. I'm finally at a point of being "settled" on body type and hair color. Lol I am not employed. I take care of several family members. Run errands. Stuff that goes along with their business. Personal assistant without pay is what I AM... So I need more "everyday" clothes than anything. My problem is I like to look out together and cute. I don't like looking sloppy. I am concerned that I might have vanity issues and make clothes into idols. I only buy what's on sale at thrift shops. I struggle with means of self expression and being creative, unless I'm putting outfits together or even putting on very basic make up. I'm at the age and time where I DO need to simplify my wardrobe.... Help!!!!

Awhhh I love clothes/style SO much, and I also LOVE minimalism so much… I have literally filled the boot of my car with stuff to donate and I haven’t let it go yet? Why is that always the hardest part??? I talk myself in and out of it so much and then i keep say a favourite coat, so I think we’ll I best keep the fav boots and then leads to other outfits I wanna keep and I stop! And around the mountain I go… tonight I wanna get rid of it all and tomorrow I might be glad that I didn’t. The indecision is exhausting me x

Great video and I love your style! I wish I lived at the beach and could just wear flowy sundresses year round. I live in a hot/cold climate. On some days I need 10 items just to not freeze to death 💀. I’m going to try challenging myself to scale my wardrobe down to 20 pieces for 6 weeks and then rotate. I have roughly 60 items (exclusive of activewear) and I don’t think I could part with any of them. I want to challenge myself to wear what I have more and be more creative with it 🥰.

Loving your pieces and colour scheme, my colour scheme seems to have changed over the last few years to blue/green black and white. Do you find the better quality clothing you have lasts longer, or are you happy to replace more often as you aren’t buying the volume of clothing you may have done in the past? Thanks from the UK.

I would say yes to both! I definitely buy a lot less and value quality now way more than I did but I am also less worried about “stuff” now and saving it for special occasions, I just wear it all and don’t really think about it anymore. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

I really want a more minimal wardrobe but struggle because I love variety and beautiful clothes. I also fluctuate a bunch with pregnancy and post-partum (and plan to have more kids), and I have 4 seasons, practice modesty (which means more layers), and need a few more dress options for church and other things. My special factors are messing with my plans! So far I have got most of my wardrobe down to 160 (not counting pregnancy stuff and misc. items) 😅 so I have some more work to do. I don't think I will ever have a 10 item wardrobe but maybe I can get under 100 someday🙃

I work in an office so it's hard to wear comfortable pieces. I always have to show up chic and I change in my free time to comfy clothes or my pyjama. So I would love to find a style that is elegant and comfy.

Thank you for sharing. I struggle with stress shopping and online shopping and have an excess of "stuff" in my closet which I am trying to clean out and either donate or sell on Poshmark. I do love this idea but I live in Canada where the seasons can be drastically different, with extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, etc. so I don't think it's realistic to only have 10 items where I live. But I definitely want to take some of these principles and adapt them for myself. Maybe 10 items per season would be more realistic for me.

I wear lots of similar styles, but don't know about the short dresses which look great on you. I love your color choices that match your hair and skin tones too.

I think ten items is ok for warm climates. But I'm in the UK and in winter I can be wearing a vest top, tshirt, shirt, jumper and cardigan all at once even indoors coz it's so cold.

This has been such a struggle for me. I want the 10 capsule wardrobe but currently have 60. And that's half of where I was😭 it's the only thing in my home I've had a hard time minimizing but feels the most important. I'm always afraid I'll let go of something and then need it again at some point just because that's happened to me a time or two. So... I'm taking this video with me and going in for another round! I live in a four season climate which is a huge part of my issue. Can you link the sports bras? I do need those. I can't find any that are comfortable and not overly constricting. I have some rib issues and so regular bras are a no go and any sports bra I try feels like it squeezes my ribs too hard.

I have tried to understand the ten piece wardrobe. Once you add the extras I can’t see the difference from a capsule wardrobe. I admit I haven’t spent much time on it because I am happy with my own system.💕
