This is a stunning example of 45gs. Also, great guide, thanks! How much should I expect to spend for a 45gs no date in a similar condition to yours?

Thanks! I think you should try to fit the price of the watch + the price of the service under $1,000. This is based on the prices in the early 2019. If you're reading this in the future the prices will be different ;)

Buddy, the dial of this watch is perfect. Just one thing if you don't mind. At the back, there's memorial writing.(something says anniversary of 25years working in Toshiba) Some people might prefer those without it.

5:20 The "Japan" writing at the bottom is above the markers for Suwa models and Below the markers for the Daini models. They both are authentic. Also, the The Grand Seiko Guy specifically says about GS dial numbers and caseback numbers "It is important however to note that there does not necessarily need to be consistency here where the same caseback code is used on multiple watches. This can lead to some confusion for the unwary, and it is why you can’t necessarily identify the exact model being referred to just from its eight digit movement-caseback code". From what I have read - 3 different factories = Suwa, Daini, and what became the Grand Seiko factory were all making the same watches and sharing with each other. You can find mix-matched/faked models but you are drawing false conclusions acting like any GS w/"Japan" above the markers is not "authentic" just because your specific model doesn't look like that...

I got a grand Seiko with alternative hour and minute hand and a alternative crystal. It’s the 4520-8000 gold filled. How much will this affect the value?? It’s in very good condition.

How many hours power reserve are you getting on the watch? I use to get 38 hours with 40 winds. After servicing this recently from a renown watch tech, I get a lot less than this.
@QuartzCrisis
@QuartzCrisis 3 жыл бұрын
I always wind my watch until full wind, it means I can't wind anymore. It's definitely more then just 40 winds, way more. My power reserve is about 45 hours. But the mainspring was replaced during the service 3 years ago.

@@QuartzCrisis the Vintage Grand Seikos really grew on me and I want to get myself one for my 30th birthday! I want to get one like the one in your video with the sharp chamfered sides, I just love this look! The icing on the cake would be a dial that reflects the light in a really special and the big block markers. Can you tell me a pricerange that would be acceptable for such a watch? It’s really hard to figure out what would be a acceptable price, since they are so rare these days. Because of that I can’t compare the prices as easily as with say vintage Rolex or omega watches..

Contrary to the common advise I do not recommend you to "buy the seller". I've created this video so you can buy good authentic watch yourself, you don't need to trust the seller. If you do everything what video says you will be better expert in GS then any of the "recommended" sellers

I used to have one which I bought from my friend. At those days (2003-2005) I was never heard of its value and never think of how more valuable it would be in the future. One night, when we are a teenagers, we unfortunately face an inevitable street fight and break the strap and ended up to lose it. What a bad luck!!
@QuartzCrisis
@QuartzCrisis 4 жыл бұрын
While it sucks to lose such a cool watch I would say don't stress out too much. The price is not the same as in 2003-2005, but it's still not that bad. If you like it you should just save and re-buy it. It's not like you lost old Submariner or Daytona ;)

Is this watch good for a daily wear, given its a 36000 Hi-Beat which runs hard?
@QuartzCrisis
@QuartzCrisis 4 жыл бұрын
Modern watches are often 28,800 bph and nobody's concerned. Yes the wear of 36000 hi-beat is twice the wear of 18000 bph watch, but all watch collectors have many watches. So it's not like you're going to wear this GS non-stop for 30 years like in the old times.

Is there any vintage gs or ks hi beat thats bigger than just 36mm case?
@QuartzCrisis
@QuartzCrisis 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry I don’t know the answer, but you probably need to take a look at modern GS. They are bigger and fatter. The modern consumer taste changed to the worse. Even Credors are of dinner plate size now.
@Nic98765
@Nic98765 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to respond so late. The largest vintage GS are the 4420-9000, 6145-8050 and 6146-8050. They are 38.4mm in diameter without the crown.

I bought Grand Seiko 5646-7010 but without medalion (the seller mentioned in the ad), without Japanese word, Japan, and years. It only show Stainles Steel, moder number, waterproof. Is it authentic? For dial and crown looks fine
@QuartzCrisis
@QuartzCrisis 9 ай бұрын
I’d say compare to the known authentic casebacks on 5646-7010 watches. If medallion was there, but someone remove it this makes the case back damaged, but not fake
