A common question that I get all the time is "should I clay or use an iron remover first?" Since those are both oart of the paint decontamination process, I decided I would show you my whole decontamination wash process. A step by step guide on how to get your cars paint as clean as you can strictly from the wash process. ENJOY!!!

Just some things I’ve learned over the last year to speed these processes up. 1. Wheels/tires first so you’re not splashing those chemicals on painted surfaces when rinsing. 2. After you do the hand wash and rinse, refoam with leftover in cannon, use iron remover on your decon pad and agitate as you normally would clay. You use the soap as your lubrication for the claying/decon step! (Saves me so much time). Enjoy your videos!
@imjoshv

Yeah I’ve been using soap as clay line for a long time! It can increase the chance of marring since it’s not quite as slick but I always polish after anyways and the time savings is amazing!!

Hey Josh if that bumper piece is bad from oxidation or any trim pieces are oxidized and off colored you can always hit it with duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. It’s a flexible paint and I’ve restored an entire interior plastics with it. I have yet to try coating them AFTER painting but it’s pretty good in my experience obviously not perfect but damn good. I mean if there’s a new one available from the oem go for it but if it ever does happen they discontinue that part that’s a good alternative!

Great vid covering the full treatment. When using a MF to agitate the Iron, do you use 1 or 2 towels folding in 1/4's for the whole vehicle? Do you pitch them in the trash after or wash them and re purpose on wheels or interiors for future use? Thanks Josh

Great vid! I am in the process of buying the stuff to do something like this to my car... It is the Wolf Gray color from Kia, so im gonna give it a nice wash, and was thinking to clay it, but what clay should I use so i dont have to polish afterwards and just go directly into ceramic protection after the clay?

Just found your channel. Absolutely love your videos. I have been binge watching them for the past two days. I truly appreciate you breaking down the concepts and keeping it simple. I actually had purchased the Griots Garage Boss foam cannon and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting good foam. After watching your video review from two years ago, it clued me in with what I was doing wrong. Again, thank you for taking the time to create these videos and the product reviews!

What I typically do is do a whole prewash with CG Honeydew or AP Megafoam, rinse, then add in 2-3 oz of car shampoo, foam half the truck/car, wash that with my mit and while I'm washing I have a rinse bucket w/ grit guard then go back to the surface and keep using the soap and suds that are already on there. Rinse and wash the other half. WHEELS FIRST ALWAYS too :D

Hello sir, I am from India and watching your videos for last 3-4 months and have to say they are really informative. I want to ask you one question. I used to park my car in open area which leads to loose dirt on car so can i use Car duster on paint surface to remove loose dirt as i am worried about swirls marks

Great content.. Love the videos, education, and insight. I’m no pro for sure- just taking care of my own on the weekends and a few vehicles for friends, coworkers, and family members. I noticed that one tire took over 50 trigger pulls of that Magic Wheel Cleaner in this video. At $30 for a 17oz. bottle on Amazon and needing 200 or more trigger pulls to get around all 4 tires. Is that practical? Is that to be expected? It doesn’t seem to be very cost effective to have to use that much product and then account for the time it takes to let it dwell, do the cleaning in all the nooks and crannies, and get it rinsed off. With cleaning time, products, and agitation tools it seems like I’d have to be charging $75 or more just for tire and wheel cleaning??
@imjoshv
@imjoshv 8 ай бұрын
Great observation! Yea I went a little heavier than needed, but using 1/3 of a bottle on all 4 tires is pretty common for me so yes cost per use is pretty high. But magic wheel cleaner is fantastic. There are other products that also work very well with high ph and you can get them in bulk so your cost per use is much lower… I like this one as well: www.amazon.com/dp/B089KWK32Z/?tag=detailgreen-20 It doesn’t have the iron removers in it but on a basic silver color alloy wheel you can spray on and rinse off and it will do 95% of the work

Does Iron Out in a foam cannon work more economically? I always feel like I get poor coverage with then spray bottles and that iron removers might be over priced?
@KiranPatel-fk1pg
@KiranPatel-fk1pg 8 ай бұрын
Use a Marolex Sprayer with the green nozzle for more even spray pattern. A foam cannon would dilute the chemical far too much.

Have you seen DIy detail using their synthetic clay towel and their iron remover at the same time? Seems really practical but they say not every iron remover nor any synthetic clay can be used like that, would love to know if car pro iron remover and the rag company scrubber ultra clay can do the trick
@kirkwilson5900
@kirkwilson5900 8 ай бұрын
In my experience the rag company scrubber is more aggressive than the DIY clay towel, I have and use both. Honestly I prefer DIY for less marring. I think if you use any iron remover it's just key to rinse it well and often.

Iron remover and clay mitt is crazy good at super fast and super deep decon. Your going to polish anyway most likely so marring isn’t to worry about.

Not sure if that'd be as effective. The iron would start reacting almost instantly so I'm not sure how much raw product you'd be spreading.

I use Zep Heavy-Duty Citrus Degreaser as a pre-wash . It breaks down tree sap and other gunk at full strength . Even though it says to not use on car paint , no issues about that . And I use Meguairs All Wheel Cleaner as a iron remover on white paint , no issues .

Why did you start pre-wash foaming from the bottom up? Rule of thumb for any practice: DO NOT PRACTICE BAD HABITS Foam/rinse from TOP to BOTTOM
@imjoshv
@imjoshv 8 ай бұрын
That’s an interesting point. I actually agree and in past videos always talk about going top to bottom. However gyeon talks about going bottom to too with this products so I wanted to test it out. I think the reasoning is that it give the lower panels more dwell time. But yea my go to is top to bottom as well
