In my very first video, I showed how to carve a simple owl from a basswood blank. In today's video, I'll show you how to whittle a very similar owl--but rather than having to buy basswood, you can use a branch from your back yard!

I'm just starting but if this really catches me (my knives come the day after tomorrow and then I can really practice) I am pretty sure I will leave Owls sitting around at random places relatively often. XP

I don’t know what kind of wood you picked up. But as hard as it was for you to shape it into an owl. I think you was one week from it to be petrified wood. 😆 good job.

it's definitely a hardwood, possibly a fruitwood. You can usually tell by the grain and colour but I'm not great at IDing yet.

@@WoodcraftersCorner you may want to soak the wood in a bath of 1 part water / 1 part isopropyl rubbing alcohol for a week...use a plastic bag as a container...Love the videos. 👍👍👍
