You guys have been asking for me to give some details on how I catch so many Croakers, so here it is.
My preferred way of catching them is in the cast net. I like to throw the net at beaches with rocks or deep troughs (drop off right near shore) . A bigger net makes this much easier. If that isn't working then I go with the hook and line method and I'll show you the rig I use in this video.

Thank you so much for this video, it was very helpful. I tried using the chicken rigg with no success and now I know why, the Croaker's weren't there. Just got a new net with bigger mesh and more weight but do you recommend focusing on areas where there are rocks i.e. Indian harbour and satellite?

Nice snook. I will be camping at the inlet in late Sept. What will be the bait of choice then? Do you recommend beach, jetty, or elsewhere in the inlet that time of year? My main goal is to put my kids on some big snook to get them more interested in fishing. I will also have my kayaks, and we will be running offshore in a friends boat as well.

Man i have never seen that many coakers in one cast of a net.I live in Pomp.Bch. and it raw for us to get coakers down here. As for the shoes going to check em out. I remember when i was young aways fished barefoot until I feel in the inlet and sliced my tendon into to my big toe. Never fish without shoes.

Those are spots, called butterfish in the panhandle. Croakers are a little longer, more golden and have a sharp gill plate. Both make great snook bait, the croakers are a little hardier.

We have several different kinds of Croakers. I think the one you are talking about we call Hard Head Croakers. Crazy sharp gills and they get pretty big. The ones in this video are Mizuki Croakers aka Spots down here.

Some of those are spots not croakers the spots are thinner with the taller backs and the spot

Sharkboy Logan LOL you really need some education there buddy. Spots are also called “spot croaker” and croaker is also called “atlantic croaker.” Basically, they can be both called croaker. As long as I can remember, I’m a biologist since 2004 and an angler since 2010. Peace!!

We get at least three different kinds of Croakers here. Spots aka Mizuiki, Atlantic aka Hardhead, and Yellowfin aka cuban croaker. Not sure of technical names but that's what the fishermen around here call them.
