No. You don’t want a loop in knot. You don’t want the extra movement. For the most part you don’t want to move the fluke at all. Just keep it still. The movement from the boat is more than enough for jig.

Typically a 1oz-1.5oz. I’d love to find a 2oz and 2.5oz with 4/0 hook, but I can’t seem to find those.

What size spinning reels do you use for hybrids?

2000. We rarely use spinning reels. Mostly we use Shimano 400 open face reels. Deadsticking you can get by with normal bass reels and medium heavy rods.

Heads typically from 3/4oz-1.5oz. Super Fluke 5 1/4”. Some other people only use 1.5oz heads and seem to do pretty good but if it’s not windy I prefer lighter heads.

Hi Thomas. If there are fish in area but we move to find fish we keep trolling motor down and grill around .2-.4 mph in fall/winter. We will catch fish at this speed allowing a 1oz bait from getting too far off depth. If you are using a 2oz+ you can troll faster to find fish if you still want to catch fish. If it’s summer you can go .5-1mph and catch fish trolling while looking for fish. Hope this makes sense.

What time if the day should I fish for hybrids

Depends on the time of year and water temp. In the fall you can sometimes catch them anytime of the day with water temps in the 60’s. When it’s deadstick season (below 55 degrees) you’re just as likely to catch them at 11am as 6am. In the summer it’s mostly first 2 hours of daylight and last 2 hours.

Yes very similar to Bomber spoons. I’ve always thought a spoon to be more concaved on one side.

What jig heads are you using, and where can one find them? All the 1 oz jig heads I'm finding have 6/0 hooks. Looks like yours are smaller, maybe 3/0 - 4/0? Love the videos! Keep em coming!

Yea 6/0 is way too big. Here is the link to eBay on the one we currently have been using. @@BooneBoys is this an early spring/late fall cool-water presentation, or will it work during the summer months? I'm fishing a lake FULL of these fish, and struggling to get hooked up ... 😔

This is only a winter fishing technique. When water temps get below 55 or so. Above that temp we nearly always use live Shad or slab. To try and get my boys and the most fish live bait is our go to in warmer water.

@@BooneBoys wipers. Reservoir is anywhere from 25-60 feet. Rock cliffs on one side. Just a basic fishing kayak. Running an ugly stick 7 foot medium with 10 pound test. I’ve mainly been trying wake baits and whopper ploppers. And my other rod I’ve been doing a slip bobber set up and fishing 1-3 feet off bottom. This reservoir holds the Utah state record multiple times in the last few years they’re just finicky.

@Rigdon Banks do you have Shad? That will be the best option Fishing straight down until water temp gets upper 50’s and you can start Deadsticking. Slabbing is a decent option but only if you can’t find live bait.

@@BooneBoys no live bait allowed in Utah unless specified. So should i just dead stick some anchovies 1-2 feet off bottom with a slip bobber?

@@Rigs__Rigs too bad for no live bait. Especially for a stocked fish like Hybrid Bass. I would put it on a 1oz jig head and fish straight down. You’ll have to mix it up and see what triggers the bite. Keep me updated on it I’m curious.
