I drove 4 hours down to southern Oregon to do some surf fishing. In this video, I'm going to show you how to setup a rig to catch these surf perch. You can catch redtail in Oregon year round.

PK! Great to see you again! Thanks for the video, I’ve been missing the fishing. Not sure when I’ll be able to travel again, need campgrounds to be open so I have a place to stay next time I’m on the coast! But I have a supply of gulp sand worms that need a good rinse in the ocean, and I’m definitely going when i can!

Can't go wrong with a battle II Penn. I'm curious about their slightly higher dollar reels. I'm still stuck on the good ole' Ugly Sticks. They get better every year.

I'm getting confused on what bait is legal on the Oregon coast. I've looked all over the internet and can't find any solid answers. I've lived in Oregon all of my life except when I was on active duty in the Navy on the east coast. I currently live in Dallas Oregon and I have my annual combination hunting and fishing license. I've fished on the coast a few times and never had much in the way of luck. Due to injuries that I got on active duty, I can't walk very far and I am unstable on rocks and such. Do you have any idea on how to accomplish going fishing on the coast. Due to my disabilities I can't go much of anywhere alone just incase I fall.

How long do you wait until you consider it a fishless spot and then move to next? I tried for the first time this past weekend in Pacifica State Beach by San Francisco. I got skunked, but i will figure this out.

I don't wait long. 5 casts or 5 minutes (5-5 rule). Try to find those holes and its money.

how do you get the mono loop pinched down enough to put through the eye of the hook? i can't get that loop pinched enough to get through the hook eye. Am I using the wrong hook? I have a #4 bait hook...similar to yours.

You get a short mono line of about 4" and use that as a guide to thread the loop through the hook eye.

Thanks. I slowly reel in, I cast then wait for a short period, then reel in. Not very fast, then pause. compared to most people, I don't leave my bait out for very long and I'm constantly casting trying to cover as much water as possible.

In oregon it was never closed i have perch fished straight through that corona thingy...fish n game told me it was always open.

@@andrew5550 i heard back in that time that covid was bad over there and that they closed it for everyone except residents that resided in those towns

@@lemon-iu7bo No it was open the whole time...they just said to stay 6 feet away from other fisherman.I dont live on the oregon coast but drive there every weekend to fish..When covid first started i called fish n game directly they told me it would never be closed...even the motels stayed open it was great not having to worry about vacancy 😊
