Don’t tape, apply an even bead, spray it with soapy water, then remove the excess with finger. Easier, better result, better seal.

Goya love the internet handymen! Doing it wrong with caulk all over the tile. Should have used a colored caulk to demonstrate

No tape, tape makes the edge raise up, looks bad.

Yes, you should remove the previous caulk to create a new clean bond. 👍🏻

Why not. It's preference. It's either white or clear. Caulk or silicone. As long as it's waterproof and made for the job

@@jmt052393 just because tub spouts and valves don’t last forever. Caulk doesn’t bond to the tub it just fills the cracks. But silicone does and can damage the tub

@daltonpottratz1375 ahh, so anything you're doing permanent (for the most part) like a drop in sink install. Silicone is good for the job. But anything that will need maintenence like tub spout, faceplate, toilet, etc. use caulk?
