Karen Goode ... thanks so much for your kind comment and sharing your experience 😉🙏 When I read your comment ... I thought 💭 perfect 👌... sometimes with certain furniture pieces a small colour meshing tool would be more helpful! I plan to search for more tools to add to this technique just for that reason ☺️ The tool I am using is great for flat pieces and larger pieces 👌and also for walls so anyone wanting to apply the same colour meshing to a wall would look gorgeous! 🎨💕

I am so happy to share these techniques and show the concept up close to providing examples! Thank you so much again for your kind words and support it truly means the world to read this 🤗❤️

The Reclaimed Heirloom Oh I’m so excited to try this technique and plan on using your link to order the meshing tool! And I think this is part of what sets you apart from so many others...you could have easily kept this amazing and creative technique all to yourself, and yet without thinking twice, you chose to share with us. Now I wouldn’t blame you one bit if one day you choose to do things differently because like soooo many others, you could easily be charging a pretty penny for these tutorials. And if you ever do decide to pursue that road, I just want you to know that wouldn’t make you any less of the kind hearted person you are now, and without hesitation, I would continue to follow and gladly pay for a teacher as great as you! 🥰 ♥️Sarah

When people have shared their projects... it means a lot more than payed tutorials... it feels like a real energy that comes to KZfaq access ... when people can freely watch and create without worrying about $ .... Hi Christina! I love this technique as well! It totally looks like a grade school chalkboard eraser! Im sure you have heard that before! I will get my hands on one of those next to add to my "miracle repertoire " of goodies! I do have a question about not priming your piece first. Especially an old piece. Other artists don't do it either and I wonder about tannins. Thanks for a great tutorial. Also do you sell a majority of your work or use in your own home?

I love this technique!! So does the application itself leave lines at all from the tool you use? And if so, do they level out so you can’t see them? I would assume they do because it’s chalk paint, but I wasn’t sure if the glaze made a difference with that. Thanks!

Sara Wallace ... thank you so much for your kind comment 🙏🎨 and feedback. The Wooster pro is probably best because it’s lighter both work the same and the larger one is great for larger surface areas. The Wooster does have a proper handle which of course is nice 👍🏻 Both wash up really easy and you don’t need to replace the pad. Thank you so much for watching and your kind words 💙💙

I love the colors you chose for this...gonna steal it for my next project. That sponge brush brings in such a smooth sweet blend. Nice invention Christina. I'm working on a wicker side table...never chalked wicker before, still going for it, I'm sure I'll have to use a brush for blending tho, but it'll be fun seeing how that goes. Have you worked on wicker? Love to hear your advice.

Amy Broudy ... thank you so much Amy for your thoughtful comment and feedback 🙏💙💙 As for latex paint 🎨 I am not sure 🤔 only because I have never done a furniture project with latex before. With latex being an oil base I would probably recommend a primer first. I would ask a local paint shop in your area based on the brand of paint you have and any steps to prep for , they will give better advice then I could for latex 😉. I really appreciate your kind words 🎨💙💙

Hi Nicky!! Can you find Acrylic based glaze? I used this mainly for my glazing projects. If you can go to a home improvement store or a Arts/Craft store and ask them for a acrylic glaze they may have it. If you go to my amazon store, (link is in my video description) you can see the glazes listed and maybe you can show these brands to your local store to help you find an equivalent. I hope this helps!! ❤️🎨🙏

Hi Christina, it seems to me that maybe one can by pass the base different coats of placing the paints where you want them to go before doing the clear glaze. How would painting the entire piece in the mixed color of Aubusson Blue and Olive, letting it dry, then adding the clear glaze with the coordinating colors on top for the meshing? Would it work this way?
@TheReclaimedHeirloom
@TheReclaimedHeirloom 4 жыл бұрын
Maria Alvarez ... absolutely!! There is no way of doing base to glaze then add meshing technique, I generally like to see where I want the colours to be place before hand for my personal visual but you can definitely by pass and place the base and glaze which works for you too! Definitely place the colours down that work best your vision! I actually think some people would find it much easier to place a full base coat first then mesh from there! That is totally fine 🎨😉🤗

I have never seen this technique, and it’s BEAUTIFUL, looks like so much fun!! I have a question, hope it’s not a silly one! Lol the item you are using to do the blending, I know you said it was for floors. It seriously looks like a sponge mop head. Would any kind of sponge mop head and even sponge roller heads work? Or dies it have to be the ones you have listed and if so, why? I just like knowing “why” I am using a specific product, technique etc. I live your work and really love your step by step instructions!!

Hi Kim, Based on what you are describing I understand your comment! I have used only these types of meshing tools to get the desired effects. The meshing tools either has a synthetic material or its natural wool. I have tried using a sponge (similar to what is on a traditional mop) and I did not get the same blending effects like I get with the ones I have described in my video. I hope this helps!! Thanks for subscribing to my channel!! :)

What kind of brushes do you use? And as you put paint on over wet paint of a different color do you still re-dip in the full can of paint? Do you worry about contaminating your colors in their cans?
@TheReclaimedHeirloom
@TheReclaimedHeirloom 4 жыл бұрын
Kr Wilson ... So in the video I mentions I used chippy bushes for this project... I use a different brush for each colour when I work from the can so I don’t contaminate the colours. You can pour out your paint separately and use the same brush if that is easier as well .... if you view my previous view on “Colour Meshing” it is a Scandinavian Pink Armoire... I made a longer very detailed video and you exactly what I do with my paint ... this tutorial is a refresher and showing another example of colour meshing with more contrast colour palate. You can use any brush you wish ... it’s the meshing tool that does the final results in the end. Hope this helps and thanks so much for watching 🙏💙

Hi As usual lovely finish. I have a question please: which is better for blending colors, blend colors when they are both dry and activate them with water, or, blend them when colors is still wet? Also, when you blend do you blend with a third clean brush, I am asking because if I use the light color brush to blend with the darker color, i can not use it to go back to my white color as an example? My question is a general one and not only about chalk paint? Is there another method for blending? I know that the question with the brush sounds stupid, sounds like a stupid person who did not see tens of videos about blending, but I really did lot of blendings but it coasted me so much paint and hours to achieve it, I thought maybe you can advice me what is the best method to blend. I really love your work and your finishes are special compared with others to me. Thank you in advance for your help and understanding, sorry for the long massage. Best wishes always.

Maha Zappa ... thank you so much 🙏💙 for your kind comment and feedback . As for your questions... there is no better than another way to blend chalk paint, it is really about what works best for you!! 😉 In my KZfaq channel there are some short demos on ombré blending that might be very helpful for you to take a watch when you have a moment 👍🏻🎨 The key with any blending is water to paint ratio ... so it is important to make sure your brush is moist first ( not saturated) just moist and as you apply your paint and add any colours ... add small amounts of water 💦, if you feel the paint is not moving smoothly add more water not to much but add as you go! The colour meshing technique is really nice because the the thickness of the tool does most of the blending but based on your comment... I would advise you to try the clear glaze ... with clear glaze added to your chalk paint you don’t need to add water which might make it easier for to get better with your blending technique! 😉🎨 Just work in small sections at a time and remember... have fun!! 😉💙💙 Hope this helps 💕
