I like that idea. I’ve tried lots of things to record parts for replenishment - shopping list apps, notes app on the phone, note book and pen, work log diary, diary app on phone…. At the end of the day they all rely on me having time and remembering to do it each time, which is the weak link!

Remember using the Sunvic motor open motor close valve as one of the first ones in the late 60's them moved on to Tower/ACL then Honeywell. My favorite was always the Smiths Midi valve connected through a Potterton Mini minder as when the hot water light was on when the programmer was in an off position you knew you had a tank of hot water. Another good one Mark and yes you can not beat Tom Dudley,

Happy new year to you and family Mark. Great video. Great tip on the multi tool for rusted close coupled bolts beats using a hacksaw blade which is a nightmare. Motorised valves is something that’s always eluded me for some reason. Should you change the motor or the whole valve. I assume it’s good practise to fit valves either side of them so you don’t have to drain the system but I suppose you don’t always get the space to do that. Keep up the solid work Mark.

Hi Mark, Great video, for future reference 99.9% of valves have the same colour wires. Get yourself a inline 5 way connector (made by Regin). That way you can cut the wire without going in the wiring centre and just wire your new valve to that. Makes it easier to replace in future as well! ✌🏻

Honeywell motorised valves have been of shocking quality for sometime I started end of 1979😂 Honeywell valves were then made in Canada. Now there made in the EU and am constantly finding the motors failing far too quickly. I've stayed with them but they need to own up about the issues there having. Honeywell do a compatibility chart at the back of their wiring booklets which should give you even all the old makes. Sunvic. Satchwell etc. If you hunt around there's a manufacturer called Tower. They do the best compatibility chart any engineer could want👌 Nice video love these jobs, but maybe not the jarred drain offs 😂💦👍

Being completely honest with you mark, I skip the intro bit the "spoilers" so to speak then watch it at the end Cause I like to see it as it comes and how I'd deal with it to see if there's any differences in our way of working You stick to whatever way works for you regarding the video layout "intro, outro etc" I learned to just skip over it I'm sure others can do the same too if it bothers them that much? Anyways, those TD look better than the PoS one's I installed a while back so may have to give them a go again tbh You're a brave man using the honeywell again, but keep us updated on that one! 🤞all is well with it though, for you and the customer

Great video as always. Maybe give the new format a few goes to see how it beds in, and just have a very quick summary (This week, I ha' bin mostly...") to kick things off at the start. You may have covered this before (I'm still catching up) but how do you as a sole trader block out your time from week to week and month to month between the larger projects and the smaller jobs? And after twenty-odd years do you reach a point where you decide to just do the nice stuff? ... unless it's a mate, of course!
