That was very helpful. My bake element just went on my 10 years old LG LSC5683WS and I had no idea how to get this element out. I saw the panel but could not believe I had to rip it out. They are more likely building these oven around pre-assembled components and leaving this tab like this to save production time and money. Most people don't bother fixing things and just go out an buy a new oven anyway. I don't believe LG wants to make our life miserable as their motto is Life is Good!. Your tutorial was spot on and timely. The only difference is that my OEM replacement part ends with a 1!

I found your video very helpful so thanks, I have a fairly similar stove and my problems is that the oven doesn’t heat up past 350 degrees, I installed a new thermistor but that didn’t fix it, so only after watching your video i realize it may be the same element mine needs replacing, I didnt even know that element existed until watching your video so thanks again, now i just have to find the replacement element and hope that it fixes my problem.

As a Seasoned Mechanical Engineering Service Tech, I have to say you did a great job explaining what your were doing and why you were doing it. Very great Concealed Bake Element Change Out walk through for a LG. Smart for removing the remaining debris, not everyone even takes a look inside to even see what make have cause the issue in the first place. Your situation it seems as though the heating element actually withstood the test of time and lasted long enough to possibly warp to the point of shorting out against the structure and grounding out to oblivion. Just a quick heads-up. It should have tripped your Circuit Breaker before the Grounding Out to Oblivion part happened. You may want to check your Range Circuit Breaker and wires along the way if this was not tripping your breaker at the time of turning on the oven and discovering that the oven was not working. We design these with fire & life safety in mind so there are several safety switches and fusible links between each heating element and the Circuit Breaker so if it was not tripping the breaker before the repair, you may want to check to see if you have a breaker going bad or oversized. Loose connection at any point in the wires for the element can cause melting at the wire terminals and insulators but not the the element, after all it is designed to get heated. So this leaves me to believe that if your breaker was not tripping, you either have an oversized breaker or a breaker getting ready to die out. Either way figure since you seem pretty thorough in your findings you might want to entertain this possible future repair. But just in case it did the amperage did not raise enough to trigger the breaker to trip (which is scary) the HLCS High Limit Control Switch should have kicked in and cut the power to the particular element, and if that failed then there are at least two to three more safety switches for backing up those safety switches per element. So get back in there and let me know what you find.

I got a Kemore from probably the same vintage with a hidden element as well. Hopefully there's some similarities in how it comes apart.

That element was really baked. God job on the fix, I didn't see any sparks.

My LG LRE30453ST/01 has this same hidden bake element and the cover PANEL will not come off after clipping like the service manual showed. I’ve used a chisel, a dremel, and tried to score the FAKE panel lines with sharp tools. This panel was not made to come off. I’ve managed to cut and mangle the metal along several areas so far but it’s still stuck. If I somehow manage to get it off will it even be safe to put back since it’s mangled? How to get this panel off? I appreciate your video. It should have been doable and a somewhat easy fix. Looks like it won’t be though because of this poor design by LG. Edit- I notice at 5:04 when you pressed along your panel the separation lines clearly showed . My panel does not show any separation at all when pressed.

I spent an hour prying, hammering, chiseling, and cutting with tin snips to get that cover off! Easy 15 min element change otherwise. I will suggest try cutting out this opening with a dremel and thin cut off discs instead.

This not bad compare to ge profile range where you have to take the whole oven part to get to the hidden element

My LG oven take way too long to preheat, I change the temp sensor but that did not solve my preheating problem. Now I'm leaning toward the hidden bake element, could it be damage to the point where it effect the time for preheat ? Thanks the video was great !

Do you have a suggestion for removing the pieces of the element that are stuck? It was a hard work and I can’t take it all out... I couldn’t really remove that door, it’s all scrapped now, think I’m gonna need another piece of metal for replace this. It’s really hard for changing a simple element, I can’t believe this. If you have some advice, I would be grateful, I tried everything that I have to take the pieces out and it’s impossible! Thank you for your video

Thanks for your video. On my stove, the little panel is completely stuck on, after I cut the little tabs nothing is moving at all. It completely destroy it if I try to pull it off. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

They had so much space to make that a screw-on cover. I can't believe it's so hard. I'm not sure what their goal is? For me to buy a new range because it's hard to replace a baking element? Unbelievable. If anything they just made me never want to buy an LG product again. I have a Bosch dishwasher, and replacing parts on it is so damn easy, because of this I will always choose Bosch over LG even if that means paying more, it is worth it!

Hi our LG cooks unevenly, meaning if I cook a frozen pizza half way through I have to turn the pizza 180 degrees. I use Bake for that not convention so my question is mine burned out partially? The top element is strictly for broil, correct?

I have an LG oven that doesn't seem to heat up evenly. I took the back off and measured power to the upper and lower elements while the oven was pre-heating. My oven never powers both elements at the same time. One is on for about 1 minute, the power swaps to the other one for 1 minute. I measured about 10 amps at 220 V for each element when it was on. Does this sound correct to you?

I've heard that the self cleaning feature can cause lots of problems due to the high temps.

Hi I wanted to change the element in our zanussi double oven I removed the element but the 2 spade connector wires fell in the back so I heard to remove the back to retrieve the wires but because they are both grey I don't know which g goes on which terminal now. If they get put on the wrong way round on the new element will it destroy it.

hardest part is removing that bake element access panel. I've gotten 3/4 the way through and now seems impossible to separate on the right side. i now have a chisel trying to pry it away and still not working well. I've cut all those "holes" apart and still holding on well. Any tips?

Great video. I have a 2007 LST5601ST and replaced the bake element with replacement part MEE36593201. The original element had indeed burned out in one spot. There was no continuity for it. By the way, the difficult plate on the back was easy to lift out once all the small connection points had been broken. Put in the new element and found out that the new bake element did not work either. Checked to make sure it hadn't failed as well, but it had continuity. I am really lacking in any electric or electronic knowledge. Any ideas what the problem might be? Might there be internal fuses or switches that might have gone off when the original burner failed?

How did you find the part number for the element that you needed? I have an LG LCS5633WS (13 years old now..) that the hidden bake element just went on and I can't confirm the part number I need anywhere. Would it be the same as yours?

Helping a friend who has a Kenmore model 790.46893903 which also appeared to have no removable bottom panel. I am helping him remotely, and he tells me that the inside cavity of the oven has no seams - one continuous shell. I suspect that it must be like this one where the element has to be accessed from the back. Can anyone confirm for Kenmore model 790.46893903?
