In Blender we can change the units of measurement used in a scene. We can use the metric system, imperial system or use "Blender Units." Measurements include edge length, area, angle, volume, time and mass. Also learn how to display the length of edges in the 3D viewport. You can have Blender show measurements for precision modeling. And we will cover all of this in 35 seconds!
Here's a blog post all about units of measurements in Blender: brandonsdrawings.com/how-to-c...

Moved in new Blender version. Please edit your pinned comment in the wording of your choice, to explain where they moved it to in Blender v4.1 (Thanks to @Hellfire7675 for explaining where they moved it in the new Blender version.) (I replied with this and I'm posting it as a separate comment also.) On the left side, by "File/Edit/Render/etc... " under that is "Object Mode", click the down arrow and choose "Edit Mode" Now go back to the right side where the "Overlays" is (the 2 circles) and to the right will be a new dropdown menu that shows a square with a top right corner being solid color square. That is the new menu where they put the measurements. (If you are still having trouble understanding, just toggle between "Object Mode" and "Edit Mode" while looking on the right side of the screen and you will see a few things appear and disappear. It's one of those options.)

The measurement section is now in its own tab in the sidebar when you are in mesh edit mode. This is a recent change that was introduced in Blender. In edit mode, look for Mesh Edit Mode next to the Show Overlay tab

Reworded, because I had issues understanding your instructions, because I'm new to Blender. Others may find my wording useful: On the left side, by "File/Edit/Render/etc... " under that is "Object Mode", click the down arrow and choose "Edit Mode" Now go back to the right side where the "Overlays" is (the 2 circles) and to the right will be a new dropdown menu that shows a square with a top right corner being solid color square. @@Brandon-3D Nah man, it's perfect I googled a problem, and within 20 seconds i had the solution. That means the video has exactly the amount of information needed, means that it was properly conveyed, and the title and SEO were all good.

are these measurments directly relational to real world measurements? I had an stl created in one program that came out to 10 1/2 inches but in blender, when imported, it came out to over 1000 inches.

Scaling issue perhaps?

What has worked for me is after File>Import>Stl you get that window to select your file. On the upper right side, there's the "Transform" drop down arrow. Open the options and under "Scale" select the "Scene Unit" box. This "applies the current scene's unit (as defined by unit scale) to imported data." I leave my scale at 1.

My problem is every object i create has a different scale. I make a cube 5m wide and then create a small cube, it has the same 5m wide, that being much smaller. How to make all objects to belong in the same measuremnt system?
@notflanders4967

Hey, I've been having this issue also, but thanks to a commenter on another video I got the solution _finally.._ Basically, you need to press CTRL + A(apply)>Scale in Object Mode. On this video is where I found the comment, it's the top comment right now. They explain it better, I'd suggest reading it to understand what's happening. (/watch?v=gw20OyJoWeg) The video wasn't worth much but that comment changed everything for me.
