How To Change Audi S4 B9 Brake Pads and Discs [TUTORIAL]

Here is a quick video about how to change your brake pads and discs. This is very similar to most cars so can be used as a guide.
Here is a list of everything I used:
Trolley Jack
"Precautionary" Wheel (Jack Stands worth using too)
Impact Wrench (Optional)
Montage Cleaner (If you want to clean it up!)
Mallet
Ratchet with 21mm socket
Flathead Screwdriver
Breaker Bar
Caliper Rewind Tool
Red Rubber Grease (or equivalent)
Brake Pads (EBC Red Stuff in my case)
Brake Discs (Zimmerman in my case)
Wheel Wrench/Ratchet with 17mm socket
Microwave (Any box-shaped thing will do)
Please remember doing any work on your own car is your own responsibility & you should wear safety goggles, gloves etc.

You made me cringe when you used a caliper piston retractor on the new pads. Yikes. Always do that on the old pads, it leaves a divot in the material.

You know what, you’re right, didn’t even think about that! I know for next time, I’ll see if I can stick a note on the video suggesting doing it with the old pads.

I haven’t yet as I’ve been lucky enough to not wear them down enough to need changing! Still at around 50% worn after 3 and a half years 😁

Was it 4 brake sensors you needed to change or just two. ? I think I bought the same kit. Front and rear Zimmerman drilled brakes with EBC red stuff pads from ECS tuning. They only gave me two.

Pretty sure it’s one per axle, so 2 is correct. I made a video recently where I change the rear pads and discs too if you want to see what you’re in for 👍🏻

Can’t find the link but they were Zimmerman, think they were 350mm front and 300mm back.

@jayp how are the new Zimmerman n red stuff brakes working for you? How’s the performance, brake dust, etc.

Performance seems pretty normal, brake dust I would say less than OEM but it is winter so the wheels are dirty anyway - but I think there is a fair bit less. Would say there seems to be a bit more "squeaking" braking a low speeds but overall happy with them.

Which size is in the front brake disc 349 or 375

Question dude... How do you remove both rear calipers and discs if car cant start and battery is dead? Meaning, i cant disengage the parking break in any way... or should I be ok with physical removal none the less? Car was involved in a crash so removing all 4 calipers and discs as part of breaking the car... any extra advice for removal of these parts would be greatly appreciated pal 👍 thanks

Hi mate, can’t be 100% sure regarding the parking brake. Have you put another battery in/ charged the existing? I’m sure you can take the handbrake off without starting engine, only need ignition to be on?
