I had a unique encounter with my drivers side axle replacement on my '09 Jetta TDI. The main hub nut wouldn't come loose at a local shop. Took it to my local VW Dealer and they couldn't free it either. Ended up costing close to $1000 to replace that axle due to the outer suspension parts required to replace to complete the job. They of course had never seen this before. People I have talked to suspected the threads were crossed at the factory. First time that area had ever been worked on. 190,000 miles on an axle....not bad in itself. Just wanted to share since you are working in a similar area. Love the videos and explanations!!!

You forgot to mention that behind the disc needs to be cleaned as well. As that help out with the seating of the disc and pads while breaking. I do it all the time. Also, good idea of some copper grease on the inside of the disc. Never thought of that till you did it. But other than that, it is a fine video none the less. Keep up the good work.

Great video like always, just a little tip...put some copper grace on the two tabs on the brake pads as this is where it is in contact with the caliber and is normal where makes the noise.

Thanx for very good video!! I tip might be that you can use a hammer to persuade the piston to retract into the caliper. I tried everything before this last resort. Disconnecting the brake line, varming cooling spray Tools mede for retracting the piston. Btw the caliper holder does´nt nesserily need to be removed for a rotor change.

Hi nice work. Just one word of advice on 4:30 the screw that hold the disk NEVER tighten more than finger tight. it will save a lot of swearing the next time you take them off. Whatever the case the wheel bolts will keep everything in place. ;-)

Any reason why you installed 2 outer pads on that caliper? You show one outer and one inner pad here: docs.google.com/file/d/0B3tFxEIjz8cfWXVDZXZyUl82UDQ But then install a second outer here: docs.google.com/file/d/0B3tFxEIjz8cfQzkzWkduWGEzWlE Sorry, I'm on vacation and have too much time on my hands. 😃

The first picture was of me comparing the new to old, I didn't explain that in the video.. I didn't notice the inner and outer pads because they were all the same in the box. But the box had been open when i bought it, so i will look into that.
@EXOVCDS
@EXOVCDS 10 жыл бұрын
BMAC VAGS At 5:02 you are holding the old outer pad in your left hand and a new inner pad in your right. At 5:17 the first outer pad gets installed and a second outer pad is on the floor. Was just wondering where the inner pad from 5:02 went... 5:37 to 5:40 shows the second outer pad being installed. It's all good... was just wondering. The inner pads have the bigger metal tabs that are looped.

I had to watch the whole unedited video to see what I did. I only opened one packet, so the pads you saw in my hand in the video are the pads that went in to the calliper. I had to watch it a few times just to make sure i didn't mix them up or anything because i know you know your stuff. But the pads are the same pads throughout the video. Do you usually use original parts?
