I am blown away by your concise and thorough videos and extra content in the comments. I am being serious when I say I don't think a team of Toyota engineers could be as accurate as you are and help build confidence in ordinary people to do these services. THANK YOU

Great vid mate. How did you decipher the axel code? I have 2001 105 Series with code A04B and have found conflicting info on whether is LSD or e-Locker. But can't find anything official online.

What exactly does hyoid mean? My Haynes manual says put hypoid in front diff but a non hypoid in rear. Car has factory lockers. Thanks

One question, if my land cruiser has 294 in it's chassis number, should I use lsd oil as it has lockers for the rear and transfercase
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow 11 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. The K294 only tells you that the vehicle came with factory locking differentials - the transfer case is separate, we have another video on changing that fluid. For the factory rear locking differential, Hypoid gear oil API GL-5 should be used, a limited slip friction additive is not required as this is not an LSD.

Hey man, I can’t seem to find the plate with all the info :/ not sure if it was taken before, fell off, or what as I see the holes where it is supposed to be. I’ve got the 95 base with no locking diffs. Is it safe to assume I would have the K292 or should I do some more scrounging around to see if it has the LSD? Would it hurt if I added in the LSD additive even if I didn’t have one?

Turns out US models are on driver door, no plate in engine bay.

what oil would you recommend if i have a rear air locker thats not always activated
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Would have to recommend following the manufacturers recommendations here, as there are many brands of aftermarket switchable lockers and they may not all recommend the same oil type/viscosity

I checked my front diff oil today and it definitely got grease from leaking axel seals. Should I replace diff oil until im ready to do swivel hub rebuild or is their no point?
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Hi, unfortunately this is a hard one to answer without knowing the condition. Best to do the full swivel hub rebuild and replace the seals, along with new grease and diff oil, to be safe

The lower drain bolt on REAR diffrential OPENS CLOCKWISE?
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Hi Imran, all of the drain and fill plugs shown in this video are standard right hand threads, meaning clockwise will tighten and anticlockwise will loosen.
