How to change front rotors and pads on Toyota Yaris / Echo / Vitz

In this video I tried to give you as many details as I could if this is your first time replacing brake pads and/or brake discs on your 1999- 2005 Toyota Yaris/Echo/vitz.

I am pretty handy, but I'm no expert on cars. This tutorial made changing the brake pads on my 2003 Toyota Echo about as easy as changing a tire! Thank you.

Newbies note! The reason FAB-B uses an old brake pad on the piston to compress it, is to avoid damaging the walls of the piston by pushing on just one side or the other. Such damage can lead to the caliper freezing up. If it does, you will notice the pull to that side and the SMELL of your pads "burning". Like that you cleaned the bracket components, but shouldnt' there be a wee bit of hi temperature grease on the bracket surfaces where the pads ride? (And on the backs of the pads where the caliper piston sets? oops, I spoke too soon)

Thanks ! I did put copper grease between the back of the pads and the caliper. Did you mean something else ?

Hey man, I read this and I think he means between the rotor and the hub assembly...Great video though, couldn't explain it much better than this. Did the brakes and rotor on toyota echo after watching, felt good.

Hi, you're right, that's probably what he meant. I didn't put grease there but indeed it's not a bad idea to avoid sticking of the rotor. Glad you found my explanations clear and good on you for the doing the job ;¬).

Why is it that even after changing the pads, at the very end, we can still some sort of grinding noise when attempting to spin the wheel?

The padsare still "rough" and they have to bed in witht the discs, so that grinding noise is normal just after the job (if everything has been well mounted).
