Thanks man. I really appreciated that you break it down to the laymen watching like myself. Sometimes when you aren’t familiar with a process you don’t focus on the most important aspects of working on a motor like the crush washer and over tightening the plugs

I have 4 12" X 12" cement patio blocks. 1 placed in front of the front tire, 1 placed in front of the back tire, and 2 high for the side stand. Drive it up on the blocks and with your foot side the 2 under the side stand and works like a charm. More clearance and the bike sits up a little straighter while still totally safe.

Depends on how much you ride. When I rode 15,000 miles a year I would go 5-6000 miles on an oil change. Now i dont ride as much. It gets an oil change every 3000 miles or once a year... whichever comes 1st

Good video, but you forgot to remove the screen and clean it off with brake clean or even some gas. If you look directly below the oil fill plug, all the way down at the bottom side, there will be a bolt that if you remove it, there's a screen in there. It catches all the gunk and debris in your engine case. I take mine out every oil change and clean it with brake clean. It's also a good way to keep tabs on what's going on inside tour engine!!

Do you really need to change the screen every oil change.
@Ghostman86
@Ghostman86 2 жыл бұрын
@@doreenduncan3411 I don't believe you need to CHANGE the screen every time, but it's good to remove it every time. See, that screen can tell you a lot about what's going on with not only your engine, but your clutch, and gear box. Idk, I'm certainly no expert on these bikes, but feel it can't hurt to take this out and clean it with every oil change.

I notice that you had the front wheel raised higher than the rear wheel. Was there a reason you did that? Would you still get an accurate level in the sight glass? I would've thought it would cause the oil level to read a little higher, as the oil would gather more in the back of the sump?

There is a prefilter screen that should be removed and cleaned. It is directly across from the drain plug on the left side.. You don't even need to remove the drain plug.. If you remove the plug for the screen it is a way better way to drain the oil. It gets it all because it's leaning that way on the side stand and it's the lowest point. Another plus is the regular oil drain plug strips out easy and the screen plug dosnt. To remove and clean.. Remove plug on left side (17 mm) use brake clean or another fast evaporating solvent to spray the screen. If never cleaned before it may have gasket material and metal flakes in it.. That's normal if it's never been done just clean it out put back in and fill with oil to 1/2 way between the lines..

So the book says 3-1/2 quarter, you only put 3, I just got a 1999 Vulcan nomad 1500cc, first time I rode the motorcycle oil spit out behind the cylinder near the breather, I was told that to much oil in engine will spit out, I have the bike straight and the oil level was way above H, I did drain some to get the level in between L and H but still spitting out, I was told to keep the oil level right above the L,

Sweet! You can find good deals on them these days. I have seen too many to count with over 50,000 miles on them. They were well-made bikes

Your idle should be 950-1k rpm. Yours sounds like 650-700. Also you never mentioned the boards under the front tire.

WHO_TEE_WHO I just recently started using that Valvoline oil in my 04 1500 classic. When I first got the bike I used GTX and it made my clutch slip have you ever heard of that? Thanks.

☝🏽 Attention ☝🏽 That’s ugly seats and ugly designed tank and the sound is good but the pipes and the handle bars don’t go with that bike and that sissy bar..You should have turned it into a bobber then the pipes and handle bars would look good and it looks like it needs saddle bags 💼
