Thanks for providing this lesson. The fix has set me back a whole £2.95 for a new belt. Easy to follow, and I didn't even snap the bits off that you said were fragile. It's got a new lease of life now.

Alex you are a life saver. You change lives. so simple instructions to follow. You made me so happy cos I was struggling to fix the new belt and was in danger of loosing fingers. You made me dance and whoop for joy. It took no time to do it. Keep up the good work and save us housewives from breakdown.

I've replaced the belt a few times before - but it cost me hours of sweat and pain because I didn't know the you could separate the top and bottom parts of the brush holder. Thanks to your video now I do. It takes me a couple of minutes to change the belt now. Thank you a thousand times.

You rock! I watched another video that did this a whole different way making it so difficult. Even the demo said it was going to be a pain. Neither my husband or I are skilled in this area. I was in such a panic that it seemed hopeless to fix. I was ready to just drop the cash for a new vaccum. But you made it very easy. I was done in no time! And the vaccum runs like new. I am delighted beyond belief! Thank you.

This is why I love the internet. Took my dc14 apart to clean it internally as far as I could. Noticed some how the belt had a twist in it wasn't sure if it was supposed to or not. Found this tasty little video problem solved. also if you take the canister off the dc14 it sits on your workbench very nicely well you're doing this little procedure. Cheers!

D Bennett I was just at my local vacuum dealer today. They told me that it would cost $80 to replace the clutch as well as the belt. I just now did an online chat with Dyson.com. They told me that the belt for the DC 14 is $1.99 + $29.99 for the clutch (plus shipping).

Alex, thanks Mate, we gave our old DC14, yellow, to our Daughter, said bar was not running right. The suction is still great. After I cleaned all the rubbish out, I noticed that the belt was twisted. Its working now, but I wonder if these belts stretch over time and if so, what cost for a new one please?

I don't know if your still seeing comments but need advice please? I got a dyson dc14 off someone on gumtree. I had to unblock all the hose and now works amazing but when we use the base it wasn't lifting everything. Still good suction. So followed your video, brush was clogged bad, hair, string, wool, it's was terrible all in the base and the belt was off. So cleaned it all thoroughly. Followed your video to put everything back the way it should be and clean. I've switched the Hoover on, hose works perfect and the base is picking up great now however I'm getting a burning smell is this normal? I don't think previous owner knew the belt was off and wasn't picking up properly cause they clearly kept using it, I got a plastic bag and a child's medical syringe among other thimgs in it when I cleared it all. There was no smell before I put the belt back on. I'm now scared to switch it on and I need a Hoover so would be grateful if someone could tell me?

Oh no! My dc14 ( it is a DC 14 full kit confirmed by the factory ID sticker on the motor housing) has the knob for raising and lowering the brush for bare or carpeted floors on that side. The belt pulley is forward of this knob and lines up with the c-mount notches where the brush housing snaps on! (Your version has the belt pulley behind the brush raising/lowering knob). This gives mine no play for the belt to slip on the brush before stretching everything back on the c-mount notches. So instead, I have to spend $15 to buy a belt installer tool. It's a 2pc tool with a box shaped metal frame with side pins that clips on the brush housing. Using the belt puller hook that comes with it, I have to stretch the belt onto the frame, then slip the brush bar into the outstretched belt, lift the belt off the frame and back on the brush bar with the hook and then remove the belt installer frame. Yikes! Wish I knew this before I took it apart. Now I have to wait 3-5 days to order this belt installer tool from amazon.. 🤬

@stuartb35024 жыл бұрын
Doesn't work like that on a dc14 blitz. Parts not the same. On yours the belt guide came with the roller holder. On mine the belt guide stays in place. So I don't get any extra slack in the belt to work with. Going to have to stretch belt over roller with a screwdriver or something I think with roller holder in place.

Alex, I have a Dyson DC14 and the brush is not turning. The belt is not broken tho. Any thoughts as to what may be happening? Also, the extension wand is not working either.
@ArshesNei85 жыл бұрын
If it was like mine, I had to take the brush assembly off the belt and I found a bunch of hair wrapped around just underneath the belt area. I cleaned all the hair out, made sure the brush moved freely, reattached the belt and viola. Hopefully your issue is similar.

Doesn't look like my DC14 , have a completely different clutch mechanism and requires a tool to hold the belt stretched to remove the brush. you may want to point out this is the purple Animal model not the original yellow one.

I have a DC14 but most of the items you showed and mentioned seem to be on an older model than what I have. Not much of this video helped me change the belt or put it back together correctly. I had to seriously fight my machine to do this and I’m not a stranger to working with vacuums.

ReneeSluse Recently, I had an electrician replace two circuit breakers in my circuit breaker box, without cutting the power to my whole flat (with the exception of the two circuits whose breakers were replaced). And I saw a KZfaq video in which an electrician instructed the world how to replace a light switch, without cutting the power first. There is a logic that for professionals it saves time. But if training novices on how to replace a light switch, you’re right, unplug, or cut the power. Needless to say, that KZfaq video uploader got a lot of heat for not instructing the world to cut the power first before replacing the light switch.
