Before removing the calipers, take a screwdriver, place it in the holein the calipers between the pad and rotor and gently apply pressure to the piston side and the piston will usually retract. That's the way I have done it for years.

Because of you, I was able to change out my brake pads! Thank you!

An easy way to put those big heavy tires on is to set them on an inner tube. Blow the inner tube up and let it be you tire lifting air jack. Then when at the right height, just bounce the tire to align holes. Inner tube lets you wobble tire left or right for where you want it. I guess strong people wouldn't need that method.

You should ALWAYS use new pins - they are $10 for 4 of them... also, I never only change pads on a brake job - it's so easy to just swap the rotors out while you are there with the caliper already off... or at the very least have them turned... other tip - when compressing the piston, use the old brake pad to give you more even surface area on the piston... and be sure to completely bottom it out....

A LS1 head bolt works great to drive those pins out lol

Good video. Do you have to bleed the brakes after installing the new brake pads? When you squeeze caliper piston the fluid should come out from brake master cylinder.
@mediacreationsusa Жыл бұрын
No - but he should have check the master first I usuallly suck some off so it doesn't overflow, but that only happens if you top off while the brakes are wearing down... no need to bleed them since you didn't open the system... if you replace the calipers, then yes.

If you have a set of allen wrenches you might find one that will work way better to drive out the pins vs using a screwdriver.Also that poor brake line best to have a block,hanger or even the tire to rest caliper on. And be carefull with it old brake lines don't like to change their shape and easy enough to cause more problems than need be.

A small deep well socket works so much better then a screwdriver on the pins.

Was I the only one that laughed when he said he was gonna do it without a c clamp.

Always put pad on caliper piston before pushing it back, jack stands a must, bleed lines after. But good beginner try.

So just a pad slap!? You should of least got the old rotors turned, maybe a touch of synthetic brake grease on the bracket or pins themselves. this design freezes up real easy if you dont drive it EVERY DAY
