Seems like it would be easier to put the rubber boot on the plastic ball from the other direction prior to hammering it onto the pivot point?

Thanks for this amazing video! Maybe a stupid question; the bearring where the axes comes into the gearbox, should that one be installed with the bearing spring facing outside or inside the gearbox?? I’m replacing it now because its leaking. I’m in doubt if the ones in is correctly installed by the previous owner. The spring is facing towards the outside of the gearbox.. Maybe someone can help me with this!🙏🏽

good video, but I didn't hear you tell us the actual problem you were having with the gearbox shifter and how you diagnosed just this part as needing replacing - I assume it was shifting problems of course, but in what gears (all gears or only some e.g. reverse)?

Lube the contact points so it will be even smother ( the shifter box too )
