In this video I install the 5-speed 711 shifter from 025 Motorsport. I remove the original gear lever, modify the linkage, then fit the 711 shifter along with the necessary adjustments. The 711 feels like a big upgrade, giving a much tighter gear selection and equal movement from 1st through to 5th.
Available for Syncro, 2 wheel drive 4-speed, and 5-speed gearboxes.

Guys.... you MUST have the clutch fully disengaged BEFORE you start (m)any stationary gear shifts. Think of the internals of your gearbox!.... something could well get broken in there!!!.. . De-clutch (use a stick), fit the kit and when you are finished, off you go. The 094 isn't a kid's toy sturing gears. Great Kit, I want one!

Just wanted to let you know I discovered your channel some while ago and I absolutely love it :) You explain stuff very good and detailed and as I own the same car (well not the same model but also a T3) I can really relate :D Regarding this video: I was actually a bit shocked as I saw the price of the shifter, very expensive. Would you still say it's worth it?

Thanks for the kind words, really appreciated. For me, i'm intending to keep the van for life so want it to be the best it can be. I had a lot of trouble getting over to 1st/reverse, it actually made my elbow ache after a long drive. It is expensive, but you're paying for a huge amount of research and development, supporting a small business and getting an incredibly well engineered bit of kit. I wouldn't go back to the original setup.

Haha, better start saving. 🤣 I have tried a short shift kit, it just made it even harder moving across to 1st/reverse so I took it off.

Thanks Tony. I got mine from Brickwerks (made by 025 Motorsport) but it looks like they're out of stock at the moment. If you search for the part number 251711173C the standard ones are available from other places.

next step shoukd be to develope a cable control shifting for the gearbox linkage and this shifter. than would be perfect. and of course a theft lock integrated in this box

Where do you source a 5 speed for a T25?? I'm in the states and can't find one here. My son has a right hand drive T25 with a 1.7L diesel and I'm trying to find a 5 speed for it. It has a top speed of 110kph, in trying to increase it some nature lifting it and doing larger tires.

What's up with your shift box? It looks like it's been altered/upgraded from stock. Or is that just how 5 speed are. I've got a 91 4 speed and mine looks nothing like yours

Hi James how much that gear link coast I'm from South Africa we don't have spares for the T2 and T3 and gear boxes our gearboxes they grind gears and get broken quickly if you can help us because we love our T2 and T3 thanks you very much
