Only 3 hours? I stay on youtube at least 5-6 hours a day, sometimes even 7 hours. It's bad dude, it's very bad. These are our drugs... Sometimes is very weird because i want to give up to my addictions, but i spent hours on watching videos like this. It's a loop. You can't escape.

what a load of bullcrap v: you just need to lower the amount of time spent on yt videos and replace the free time with hobbies or stuff you still have to do (to work or school) and you need to do it no matter what don't just wait for magical motivation to come in, you need to have enough will power to do it!

I have advice for people who struggle with staying in bed most of the day, whether on their phone or just sleeping rather than doing work. Every time you wake up, make an effort to MAKE YOUR BED. It sounds stupid, I know, but since I’ve started doing this I’ve been like 100% more productive. Once your bed is made, getting back into your bed to lay down is harder because you don’t want to just throw away the work you’ve done to get your bed tidy. Additionally, if you happen to have a bad day it’s nice to return to a nice made bed. Remember, you can do anything you put your mind to. If you’re reading this, I KNOW you will be successful, never give up 👍

I had applied this myself a while back when I removed my 1TB hard drive from my computer. It was full of games, movies and series that for years had kept me hooked to my laptop. But when my final year of college rolled around I knew I wasn't going to meet deadlines, study for exams and do my school project as long as I had all these distractions. So I bought a 100GB hard drive for my laptop, installed the necessary apps and transfered all my school work. Within days I noticed the difference, all I did was work when I was on my laptop and I ended up performing better that final year than all other years.

@@-funmemes-9759 fear of progress, fear of change, fear of losing something familiar, fear of going independent, fear of discovering new things, fear of boredom, fear of making mistakes .... and each of these things can be broken into smaller details and micro-issues that make up bigger issues even more, but they all have the same characteristics and/or effect that Rosa Rosa mentioned: self sabotage. habits are familiar things. getting rid of bad habits means getting rid of something familiar, for better or worse. some people find it hard to deal with that. if youre dependent to the bad habit in any way shape or form ("if i snort this line o' coke this will help with me creativity") then that'd lead to fear of going independent: "but what am i gonna do without it? can i even live without it? can i even *_function_* without it?" some bad habits might be done collectively, or you have buddies that do similar thing and it what creates the bond between yous, e.g. self depricating. to get rid of that habit means potentially cutting people off, severing friendships (or ""friendships""), and perhaps even making enemies. thats scary. and lonely. so we sabotage ourselves from doing it. this also relates back to fear of losing something familiar. i think it's rather well known by now that a huge reason for procrastination, a bad habit, is fear of making mistakes. so rather than trying to do it and potentially screw it up, just dont do it. or maybe do it, but later. or maybe tomorrow. what about next week? nah, next month sounds better. of course, these are just mine own take of Rosa Rosa's comment. maybe they meant something else entirely. regardless, i do think these points do relate to self sabotage.

So I asked my friends to track habits together through a mobile app (FYI if someone needs, the app called PingPal, only iOS version.) By giving thumbs up to each other's progress, we all get motivated to go beyond. Highly recommend this way! Either group support or peer pressure definitely can be willpower lol

I’m 15 years old and I’ve been unhappy great part of my life, but since last year I’ve taken on the challenge of doing sports as a routine and never skip training, and I swear that since I took on this habit I’ve been feeling way better with myself. Whenever I skip training for some reason I suddenly get sad, with no motivation what so ever. So take my advice and practice whatever sport you like, and go out and take some sunlight. I won’t lie to you, I spend around 5 hours playing games or with my phone everyday, but by having a routine and something to look forward to, I feel great.

I was a huge facebook addict. I used to spend 12-13 hours on Facebook. Couldn't give up totally on procrastination (still netflix is better than fb tbh) but quitting Facebook helped me to step out of depression lil by lil. Tbh. I was giving time to bring my creative side out, reading books, journaling, running just to pass time. And it reduces anxiety to some level because you are not constantly checking what someone is upto and not comparing your life with theirs. It was really hard first week but then i got used to it. Try it. Trust me deactivating fb will improve you.

So true about the sport part. What I did is buy myself some sport wear like running shoes and t shirts. And now I feel like going for a run or outside activities. Not just because to have the equipment to do so but a state of mind to act on it. by biuing something that makes you feel doing it

Great video. I quit smoking weed after months of telling myself I needed to quit by one day just going outside with my bong and dropping it onto the concrete. I made sure to take my time cleaning up the pieces and really listening to the noises of the broken glass. Strangely it brought a lot of comfort to me just hearing the final clunk of the broken glass as I threw it in the dumpster. Deleted my dealer's contact info and have just been trying to avoid the topic of weed altogether to keep my mind clear. Whenever I want to smoke I pull out a book and read a few pages or if I don't have a book I just meditate and reaffirm myself of why I quit and how strong I am without it.

I love the example of wearing gym clothes before going to sleep. However with the example illustrated above; it can be a little complex (specifically, having a partner. Since individuals are shaped by behavioral and social cues, having a partner that doesn't go the gym in the morning might in time reduce the behavioral cue from the social cue. Identities are strongly shaped by those we interact with especially when the frequency is more recurring. I had that issue and now what I do is instead of sleeping with my partner, I've started to sleep outside the bedroom on days I want to wake up earlier. This could be indicative of my behavioral cues being weaker, however now my behavioral cue and social cues are more aligned to the level of NLP desired.

Before, I was kinda hook on facebook for the whole night. And also, I spent most of my time laying in bed and surfing Internet. But since I have to learn English through videos, I just watch bunch of motivational speeches which I untill now still consider to be boring. However, listening them a lot can affect my consciousness. And now, I dont work so hard but I genuinely rarely visit Fb . Feel quite satisfied with what I have done

Changing your environment helps with a lot. For me getting out of the environment I was in was very important. Considering it was making my mental state worse and worse. It really helped for me to get away from all of that. Now that im away from the bbad environment I was in things arent perfect but its better. May seem bit off the main topic of habits but my habit was self harm... so yeah...... it's related for me.

My biggest addiction right now is the KZfaq shorts. I have decided that I won't ever go onto those from now on because then the scrolling mechanism ticks in and I just constantly keep on scrolling. Also it has decreased my focus to A lot so I have also decided that I'll watch only your videos or longer ones to make it a habit to stick to it. It is one of your concepts from the other videos. Hope I can get the best off of whatever I have decided.

In addition to the Gym part, what helped me was getting a pair of dumbbells/weights at home and just STARTING the exercise. With this, I was able to build the habit, and then eventually I got a pair of adjustable dumbbells to set whatever I weight I want to workout with. It's quite nice not having the mental block of getting ready, going to the gym, working out around other people, whatever else you come up with to not go, etc. I am limited by my equipment but it's about starting the habit and then building on it. I can always go to the gym to progress my training further.

As a person with Bipolar Disorder, we are always taught to look for cues that lead to mania or depression. This video is very relevant because it follows basic cognitive behavioral therapy: you have to know the causes of a specific affect (or emotion) so that you may avoid them. In the case of having Bipolar, this may be avoiding coffee, or sleeping on time. Whatever the case, it's always about reinforcing the right environment (and subsequently, habits) to avoid mood swings.
