How to Change Your Facebook Newsfeed to See Your Friends Most Recent Posts

Ever feel like you see the same friends and business pages posts in your Newsfeed?
Feel like you're missing posts from friends and family?
Chances are...you are.
A lot of people don't know this but Facebook gives you the option to choose between Top Stories and Most Recent.
Top Stories are those posts that are getting the most engagement and Facebook wants you to engage so they show those posts first in your Newsfeed.
When you switch to Most Recent, you begin seeing friends posts that you haven't seen in a while.
In this video, I'll show you where to find these two options and share a little tip with you on triggering Facebook to start showing your friends stuff again.

Good info. Lots of us think our friends we don’t interact with have dropped out of FB. Problem I see here is that most people are too lazy to go to each of their friend’s pages in order to interact. I’d rather see “all” posts as they come up.

Someone just told me that out of my 80 friends on Facebook . Facebook only let's me see 25 of my friends post in my news feed .I thought people blocked me but it's just Facebook not letting me see there stuff .THATS FRAUD BY FACEBOOK. AM I RIGHT ON THIS

Let's put it this way, if most of my friends and family were not on FB, I would not be there. The person who told you this is absolutely right. When there is no engagement between you or a friend for a period of time, FB assumes that you two are not as close as your other friends and their post will fall out of your NewsFeed. The only way to get their stuff back in your Newsfeed is to start engaging with them again. Of course, even then FB sometimes doesn't do it. If you have people you really want to keep up with every one of their posts then you will need to go to their profile and where the button that says Friends is, (beside the message button under the cover photo) click on that and then click favorites. Now every time they post you'll get notified. Hope that helps. Be Blessed, Audrey

Question: so my friend and I are friends. I’ve went on their profile. But I cannot see any new feed. Their posts still will not show on the homepage. I’ve reported it many times. Nothing’s helped

I agree Glenda! I guess they figured for those people that have hundreds or thousands of friends their newsfeed would be over run and never see ALL the post from their closest family and friends. Facebook does give us the ability to see our closest family and friends in our newsfeed but I don't like that I don't see some of my other friends posts unless I set it to the Most Recent. Hopefully with the new update they have coming out soon, they will change that. Audrey

Good video thanks, but even so it is a shame the once good facebook has gone the route it has and now makes staying up to date with random things your friends are up to. Facebook today is more like not having any mates on it and just looking at adverts and group posts.

I totally get it Chris! It's not what it once was but to me I'll take the ads so that I can stay connected with those that live so far from me. Did you know though that you can actually make sure those friends and family members posts show up first in your Newsfeed and you'll never miss one of their posts? Hey Francine, did the video answer your question? If you do take any action with a friend on Facebook it lets them know you’re staying connected and your post should show up in their newsfeed. Of course it’s Facebook so I can’t say for certain. lol Be Blessed, Audrey

In true Facebook fashion they changed things up again. Once you choose Feeds click on Friends. That is the new way to see the most recent posts from friends, favorites, groups you're a part of, and pages you manage or follow. Hope that helps. Be Blessed, Audrey

Depends on which mobile device you're on. For the iPhone, go to Facebook's app Click on the three horizontal lines and then choose Most Recent. That's it! The most recent will appear but keep in mind that when you go back it will most likely be set back to the Top Stories. Hope that helps. Be Blessed, Audrey

Thank you for video. I have a friend who I really like but is constantly posting depressing and upsetting posts which for me I would rather see positive change... So question, is there a filter to put her posts so I don't see them as often...? Thank you :)

Oh yes there is Tiger! It's called the Unfollow option. Me and my Dad actually did a video tutorial on this for this very reason. You can check it out here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7thaq2q3ry1d2w.html You can jump ahead to where I explain it around the 2:20 mark I think. The only thing that I thing has changed is that instead of the arrow down you now have the three dots you'll click on beside their name on the post. Let me know if this helps to answer your question. For the last month, I have not received any comments on my FB posts. My friend indicated my FB page is much different that what I was describing to him. Looks like the other posts showing to my friends are cover photos. I have tried to change settings but no difference. How can I make sure my posts are being seen? Hey Rick, are you on desktop and have the new Facebook design? If so, you should still have it but you’ll need to click on See More over to the left of your screen then scroll down till you see Most Recent. That will now pull up the most recent posts from friends, pages , and groups you’re a part of. Hope that helps. Be Blessed, Audrey

Social Media 4 Beginners Exactly ma'am, it's showing on Newsfeed, but i listed some friends as closed friends, so it should be notifying me in the notification bar whenever they posted, but it's not... I've reported many times even with chrome browser but it's still not coming up.. Help me out pls

Hey Sammie, if you have them marked as just close friends that actually won't notify you whenever they post something. If you want to be notified you can head to their profile page and where it says friends (on their cover photo next to message) mouse over that and a drop-down will pop up and you'll want to choose to Get Notifications. Once this is chosen anytime this person posts something you'll get notified. Hope that helps, Audrey

Social Media 4 Beginners If you're actually talking about clicking on friends to see options like unfriend, edit friend list, see first and others, I've done that already.. There's actually no difference between adding them as close friends and doing it from there. But still not working. I even deactivated the account and activate it back but still the same.

Yes, there sure is. Of course it depends on what device you're using. For iPhone app tap on the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) at the bottom right of app, then tap on Most Recent. This will show you the most recent posts from all your friends, groups, and pages that you follow. Of course, this will always revert back to top stories and you'll have to keep going to the most recent to see the most recent. Be Blessed, Audrey

Great Question. Unfortunately there is no way to keep it at Recent. It always switches back to Top Stories. I know it's very frustrating because I don't always remember to switch it to Most Recent and I miss posts. Audrey

Hey there, so those followers you have are not necessarily friends with you on Facebook. They can only see the posts you set to Public. Whenever you post to just your friends, then only your friends will see your post in their Newsfeed. This is done by the audience selector tool you have when you post anything. I did a complete tutorial on this that you can check out here: socialmedia4beginners.com/how-to-use-facebook-audience-selector-tools/ You might have set this to only you so your friends and family may not be seeing your posts. Are you looking for a particular post or video tutorials within the group? You should be able to go to the Discussion tab and begin scrolling through all the old conversations. But if they have it set up as an education group you should see Units right under the Discussion tab to the left of the cover photo. Be Blessed, Audrey

Hey there, Athena, yes there is. If you are on an iPhone - when you're logged into your account tap on the three lines at the bottom right of the app, look for Most Recent and that will give you the most recent stories. Just like if you were on a desktop it does change back to top stories so you'll have to keep switching it whenever you come back to the app. If you're on an android the tap on the three bars at the top and then on Most Recent. Tania, that is very strange. The only things I can think of are: 1. When she is sharing posts is there by any chance that her audience selector is somehow choosing not to share with you? 2. What does her Profile and Tagging settings look like? Or the Privacy Settings & Tools? I'm stumped since I can't see anything or don't know what the settings look like. I'm not quite sure I understand. Are you referring to a Business page on Facebook? On Facebook, "pages" are referred to as Businesses pages and then "profiles" are our personal profiles that our friends see. Audrey

That's confusing to me also. If their audience selector is set to friends then you should see it in your Newsfeed when they post it and be able to go to their profile page and see it also. Are you just not seeing anything on their profile page? Audrey

Hey Jan, Getting FB to respond to anything is almost impossible. When you say you can't see any of your posts do you mean when you go to your personal profile you can see them on your Timeline? Hey there Granny Willow, Not quite sure what you mean by FB limiting your Newsfeed. I do know that your Newsfeed is filled with the "friends" you have on FB that you engage with the most. I have friends that I haven't seen on my Newsfeed in years because we don't engage that much. Now, I can still go to their Personal Profile page and see what they have been up to and once I do that FB will begin putting that friend back in my Newsfeed for a while. Also, FB will continue to suggest friends that you have in common with those you are already friends with. Since it's a social site Fb wants you to socialize with more people. I wonder if anyone can help me. I noticed that facebook is preventing me from accessing my "most recent" newsfeed. It used to be working till today, and then it will give me some nonsense error message Welcome to Facebook Get started by adding friends. You'll see their videos, photos and posts here. and that's it. "Top stories" works fine on the other hand. I feel like facebook is purposely targeting my account and also my IP because now even my other family members cannot access their most recent newsfeed, but I don't understand why?

Adrian, is this still happening? I have noticed that before a big update that Facebook rolls out things start acting very weird and what others can do others can't do. They begin the changes in groups of people because of the billions of accounts created. So you might be seeing some of the new roll outs but I'm really just hoping that it was a glitch. Go to main FB page on right click the drop down symbol to the top far right next to the ? mark and change back to old view. That should do it..

Facebook shouldn't be deciding for me what I see or not. If I have 100 friends I should see their post whenever they make one. I shouldn't have to periodically go through my friends list and click on each and everyone just to reset our connection - What if I had 900 friends? If Facebook wants to inject adds in between my friends posts then so be it - I'm OK with that. Also, why does my desktop PC Facebook behave different from my cell phone Facebook. My desk top PC shows 6 to 8 posts then says "no more posts" get more friends. My cell phone Facebook scrolls on and on with tons of posts. I HATE facebook.

Hey Tony, That is so awesome that you are reuniting with your friends and have found a whole new world. I love to hear that. Facebook now and again will put those People you May know in your Newsfeed but if they don't you can click on the Friends Icon (two people icon and when you mouse over it says Friend Requests) at the top of your Account. When you click on that you should see where it says Friends you may know. Depending on how many friend request you have, you may have to scroll down just a little bit to find it. Social Media 4 Beginners ,Hi Audrey thank for writing back I’m very happy for the suggestions ,I tried what you said, here’s what I found on my time line where you have your personal photo and under that on the left side it says 7 friends which I found (on the people who you may know list which you have strangers etc ,and in that list ,that’s where I found my friends, on the right side it says( find friends )I click on that and it opens up , on top of that page you’ll see request and all friends, I have the List of friends I found ,where as for the (request )it’ll bring to another page saying , no new requests ,(it says ), when people send you a friend requests ,it’ll appear here and that’s it I think something has happened it’s not the same!!
