How To Change Your Oil. Jeep JK 3.6

!!! Don't forget the new O-ring for the oil filter cap, this step was left out of the video for some reason !!!
This is a full how-to video on changing the oil and filter on a Jeep Wrangler with the 3.6 Pentastar engine. I hope this helps you out if you needed it, thanks for watching!
Tools/supplies needed,
- 1/2" wrench or socket
- 24mm socket
- socket wrench
- oil 5w20
- oil filter
- drain pan
- funnel
- rags, shop towels, paper towels ect.
- and of course your Jeep!

First time Ive seen someone remove the dipstick for oil change. I remove filler cap to expedite draining tho.

Thanks! I had nothing to do and the wife said you know the oil needs changed in the jk right? So I made a video! It still had 11% oil life though LOL

This was the first oil change that WE had to do on it, all the others had been free dealership changes as well.

Wow! Nicely filmed, well explained video on how to change the oil in the JK. My JK is a 2016 and I also have two more free dealer oil changes remaining. But, I am going to purchase the tools needed so that I can be prepared. Thanks for listing the exact tools required. Which model number of Fram Filters did you use? Thanks.

shouldn't you be changing the O-ring that comes with the new filter as well?

Why does your description say 5w-20 when the jeep calls for 5w-30....?

My 2015 calls for 5w-20, not sure if they said something different for earlier models? Maybe you're thinking 5w-30 for the 3.8 JK? Thanks for watching!

That is so werid, my 2012 3.6 calls for 5w-30. I looked up your video and bought the 20 but when I went to fill up my motor cap called for 30.

That is strange, I look again this morning to be sure and yep, my cap says 5w-20. I wonder why the change?
