In this BMW How-To Video you will learn how to charge your Plug-In Hybrid or Electric Vehicle the right way. BMW offers a charging cable that can be used for charging at a domestic socket. The meaning of the LEDs is explained on the back side of the charging module.
Always make sure that the socket has been checked by an electrician before the first use.

I own a BMW x1 hybrid vehicle. After charging the vehicle, I don't want it to remain on power after the charge is full. Maybe it won't do any harm, I don't know, but it's not something I want. If I put a socket with a timer and set the time, would it be harmful if it cuts off the electricity at a certain time? Normally, it says in the manual that when the charge is finished, first remove the charging cable from the vehicle and then cut off the electricity. I will cut off the electricity first by using a timer. Will this cause any damage? Or is it necessary? I would be very happy if you answer. Thank you.

I have a 4kw solar and I can charge my 530e in about 3.5 hours. The size of the solar system makes a difference it is the length of time. The min. Solar output to charge solely from it would be 2.5k. The charging is either set at 13 amps or 30 amps. For the higher you would need a dedicated charging outlet as opposed to the ring main.

I just got my new 2022 X5 and tried the 120 plug. It's giving me FAULT indicator when plugged into the garage outlet or outside outlet. I didn't even plug into the car yet. I thought it would be the outlet problem. But I have no issue with my Toyota charging plug. So now I'm using my Toyota plug to charge the BMW but at half the charging speed. Do I have a faulty BMW charging adapter?

Thanks for these how to videos. Just saved me a mint since you cant use an extension cord, it makes a PHEV into an overpriced and heavy gas guzzling 3 series for me.

your could use extension cord. just use the right size wire example 10/3 12/3 14/3 etc ....

You "can" use an extension cord. Brands preffer to not recommend it however, since if you use a cheap cable, it will overheat and is a risk of fire or property damage. Using a good 16A rated cable is good enough. For permanent changing spots, having a outlet fitted or even better, a wallbox is better though

An extension cable is fine, but make sure the wire gauge is 12 or lower so the wire doesn’t overheat and start a fire. Definitely don’t use a standard extension cord you were using for Christmas lights 😅

Can you disconnect the cable if the car is not fully charged? How do you unlock the charging cable?

That is an international outlet so you would have the US version. Mechanics are the same, though.

Constantly getting error "Unable to charge" on 330e, it never clears. No way to reset the error, tried several chargers, restarts, waiting etc. The only in-car option is to call BMW recovery, who hang up on me after hearing what the problem is. Then the phone number for BMW recovery stopped working! Very disappointing from BMW. How can you sell a PHEV that won't charge with bundled charger??? And when there is an error, there is no explanation or way to reset it? Now I'll be left in the clutches of a local dealer who are useless other than to overcharge me for things the car doesn't need done. They are many miles away and no courtesy car, anything nearby or public transport so I am stuck there for a whole day (if I'm lucky they can fix it on the same day) or have to pay £50 one way for a cab. According to several people with this error on the forums, BMW can clear the error remotely - why oh why does this have to be remote and can't be done in the car??? Very frustrating experience with BMW every step of the way. Don't believe a word they say anymore.

Failure. .why on earth is the plug in front sdie of the car? Everybody are back in when parking. Power cable will scrape up the paint on the side. Look at the Toyota Prius / RAV.. all in the back.
