Learn in this video how with the BMW Flexible Fast Charger you can charge your Plug-in Hybrid or fully electric BMW on domestic as well as high-current level electric outlets. The Flexible Fast Charger kit can be expanded with extra plug adapters to connect to market-specific household sockets or for different power outputs. For tidying up your garage, a wall mount with cable holder is also available. You can also connect to an industrial three-phase socket. Depending on the available current level and used plug, the Flexible Fast Charger adapts its maximum charging power to charge your BMW. Connect the adapter cable suitable for your electric outlet to the charge unit by pushing the plug onto the connector until the locking mechanism snaps into place. Make sure the socket you wish to use has been checked by an authorised electrician. For safety reasons, it is not allowed to use an extension cable between the Flexible Fast Charger and the socket. Place the charge unit carefully on the ground or use the wall mounting kit to hang it on the wall. Plug the adapter cable into the electric socket. The control LEDs on the charge unit flash shortly to indicate a functionality check.
The charging status bar on the charge unit flashes orange while the maximum charging power is established and charging is initiated. It turns blue when it’s ready to use. Plug the charging cable into your vehicle. Charging starts automatically. During charging the charging status bar flashes slowly in blue. To disconnect the charging cable you need to unlock the vehicle to release the charging cable. Unplug the charging cable from the vehicle first and then disconnect the adapter cable of the Flexible Fast Charger from the electric socket. You can carry the Flexible Fast Charger with you to use it in other places where you have access to an approved electric outlet.

Do I have to unplug the charger from the wall socket when done? Or can I leave the charger plugged into the wall permanently, and just plug the cable into the car when charging? The status bar on the charger will be lit blue as long as it's plugged into the wall socket.

Hey BMW--are you aware that the US attachment for 240v outlet is facing the wrong way? If plugged in, you cannot attach to wall (prongs facing wrong direction).

Hello..I own a BMW x1 hybrid vehicle. After charging the vehicle, I don't want it to remain on power after the charge is full. Maybe it won't do any harm, I don't know, but it's not something I want. If I put a socket with a timer and set the time, would it be harmful if it cuts off the electricity at a certain time? Normally, it says in the manual that when the charge is finished, first remove the charging cable from the vehicle and then cut off the electricity. I will cut off the electricity first by using a timer. Will this cause any damage? Or is it necessary? I would be very happy if you answer. Thank you.

I'd say that it's a bad Idea to charge your car with a socket with a timer. I'm not sure that such device will be able to handle the current safely.

On the cable which goes in the schuko (1.51 in the video), it says maximum 10A. On normal outlet that will be 2.3Kw per hour? So, 32 hours from 0 to 100% charge. Or on an average night 27kw additional charge. Better take your camping equipment with you. Perhaps the other adapters allow more.

Depends on a socket. Domestic socket 2,3 kW and industrial max 11 kW.

Nah, I got my new 530e 2021 with a standard slow charger. This fast one is an extra 1000 euros or something like that. Doesn't make any sense, at least for me since I charge my car at home over night.

I use tesla wall chargers for my 530e, it was much less ridiculously priced than the BMW solutions. It will also work great with my next car (a tesla) since BMW isn't getting their software game together anytime soon.

Can someone please confirm that you can plug a BMW i series (i4 or iX) into a Tesla charger? Are the US specs 240 W 50 volts?

not necessary, people have opinions about the grills, they are trying to find more designs on the new BMW's. I wouldn't call them ugly but they just have to fix their design in your case.
