I'm not car savvy at all, so I was looking up how to do this before I tried to make sure I didn't destroy anything. Yours is one of the few videos that isn't condescending to either women or anyone who doesn't know cars, so thank you!

General warning ya'll: Never remove the radiator cap unless the car has cooled down completely. It will explode as you twist the cap open if it is still hot inside. I know someone who was scalded that way.

Thanks. I will try this as my first step. I have a thermometer guage that's all the way to the left (cold) I went to the corner store and on the way back heard a swoosh sound. I parked the car raised the hood and didn't see anything. Both the heath and air are working and nothing is leaking. I'll go now to check the coolant reservoir.

I thought you had to mix 50/50 with water, if not a pre-mix? Is it because it is just adding a little that it is no big deal to run concentrate?

Hey guys, I own a 2018 Camry SE with 27k miles on it and I noticed today while the car was completely cold (it’s winter here) that the coolant reservoir is almost at the low fill line. It’s suspiciously low for a car with barely 30k miles. The car has not been driven for about 3 months now, before that it was driven consistently for about a year working Uber in NYC. Just wondering if this is a genuine leak and if im toast since I’ve idled and driven quite a bit. I didn’t see any leaking signs of this on the exterior so I checked the dipstick and saw no milky residue on it either. Just regular dark brown oil. I ordered the Toyota specific coolant I found in the owners manual and wanted to know if I can just simply just refill coolant between the low and max lines (on a cold engine of course) and check to see if it depleted again. Or perhaps just go straight to the dealer? Thanks!

My Toyota has no cold fill line. It simply has a line that says low and a line that says full. The manual says to check it when the engine is cold. It says to fill it to the full line. When the engine is hot it may be above the full line but the level is only applicable when the engine is cold.

The REvolution Of Bliss its a mixture
@condor5635
@condor5635 5 жыл бұрын
The REvolution Of Bliss - yeh he did not really speak to the whole thing around using a concentrate or a 50/50 mix. You can see on his bottle he used a 50/50 mix. Either will do actually in the case of topping it off where you are only talking about adding a few ounces here or there. It is important to know what mixture you have in your car. If you know yours is on the lower end of the 50/50 then add pure concentrate. If you have too high of a mix then you could just add distilled water alone. I think it is bad advice to talk about mixing coolants for you can definitely get into issues when you mix incompatible types. So definitely understand what type you have already in the car before you go and nonchalantly add more.
