My car had a Code showing up of P0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit ,and My temperature gauge is going high . Now I just now replaced my Sensor and a new Thermostat but still it kinda smokes and drain the resevior coolant . What's wrong with these car I need ideas to fixed my cars issues .good advice would be great . Now what is the settings of the Multimeter to test your sensor I have a Ever Start Digital Multimeter .

Hi there, as you have replaced the sensor, that couldn't be a problem anymore. There are several possible causes for this fault like fault sensor, open circuit in sensor return, engine overheating and low coolant level. You mentioned that coolant level is dropping in reservoir, so it brings this up that you may have head gasket problem!

Hello Hello. There are all different recommend test voltage cut offs .20 , .30 , .40 and all different "methods" with different results. Some say engine on , some say off, some say POS in coolant some say NEG in coolant. Here are my sample results that may help some viewers . POSITIVE in coolant .20 v (engine OFF) .24 v (ON). NEGATIVE in coolant .26 v (OFF) .29 V (ON). Those are big differences. AND IF SOMEONE HAS THE CORRECT VOLTAGE CUT OFF AND CORRECT METHOD PLEASE LET US KNOW. THANKS!!
