Very good explanation and good close-ups. Only one criticism: the names of the clamps (strings of numbers and letters that sound alike) are spoke much much too fast to catch without stopping and rewinding the video -- and even then you have to guess at a couple of them.

Pause, play re-pause, replay, etc. lol. notes notes notes. All those numbers do sound alike!

Damn, great tutorial on this stuff. Thx Eric! R-L, Fore -Aft, been trying to figure out this on my numerous tripods and monopods with my collard lenses, L Bracket, and camera body. Thx!

I really appreciated this video. IMO, the MPR-192 PPP is well worth the extra $40 over MPR-CL II because it is more flexible. One does not want to invest in a quality nodal slide, only to find the fixed clamp lets the fore end of the slide protrude into the image. Some camera/lens combinations have an entrance pupil (NPP) point very close to the rotational axis. The MPR-192 PPP adjustable clamp location prevents the rail from intruding into the image. There are several excellent KZfaq tutorials on finding the NPP for a given camera/lens combination. The salient point is testing two light stands in-line with the lens and moving the clamp position fore/aft until the parallax disappears. As with all RRS gear, buy once and cry once. The caveat: buy correctly the first time.

Another solution would be to mount the plate on your lens horizontally on the foot. This would allow use of any of the MPR-CL II which is what I think I'll do. Surprised they don't mention that.

Can you just screw on a qr plate to the long lens foot and clamp on that?

I am trying to get the item numbers but when you give them you hurry through and slur a bit. I will use wide Canon 16-35L and 70-200L collared. Which one is it? Thanks

No, I don't think they pay much attention to there KZfaq comments. They are pretty accessible by phone 805-528-6321 . I'm not in the market just yet after getting the 34L tripod and BH55 ballhead plus the adapter plate for 70-200 and another for camera and then of course the feet. Yikes! $1750, but it is absolutely worth every penney!

$$$$ but if you are using a tripod where it needs to be rock solid, the tripod and ball head are elegant monsters. If you do get one, get an L bracket for camera and a separate bracket for 70-200 as must haves.

So if I want to mount a non collared lens (on my full sized DLSR) on my gimbal (wimberley) this is the solution? Which version? Thanks.

Informative to a point, but you talk way to fast when describing the different bracket models. I still have no clue as to the model number of the middle? one that will suit super wide angle and long telephoto mount.😕🙁😕

Hi there, what would be the ideal Nodal slide for use with a Sony NEX 7 camera using either a 16mm lens or the stock 18-55mm on a manfrotto tripod? Would I need anything else to go with it such as an adaptor? Thanks
