I had a Cabelas Outfitter camera and it served me well for 5 years! Last year the night vision stopped working so I bought two Blazevideo cameras on Amazon. Excellent quality photos!

Hi Bernie, There are certainly numerous trail cameras to choose from and what someone is doing with them is a determining factor. I also think there is a difference between cameras for bears and one for deer. I have been using Bushnell Trophy Cams for about the last 5 or 6 years. I actually have all the 8 cameras I purchased when I was guiding and they work great. Those cameras have been taking thousands of pictures for years. I also bought the steel cages and python cable locks for each camera. Not just to protect them from bears, but to keep people from stealing them. They do great video and pictures, have field scan mode and a lot of nice features for a camera that cost $80-$100. This years I have been testing the Spypoint Cell-Link with them and so far they are working great. The cell link only transmits photos, no video, but that's fine. I stopped using them for bears, because a bear got mad there was no more food and smacked the camera tearing out the plastic cover over the sensor. Going to check a camera on a bait site is not big deal, but I like the cell link for deer because I don't want to be putting my scent in there all the time. The cell link send the images to my phone and I also can look at them on the computer. I trapped a bear last week and I'm heading back to camp this week to try and take a second bear over bait. Good luck with your deer season. [I see someone below asked about the Tactacam Reveal. From what I can tell there is no way to lock that camera to prevent someone from staling your SD card. Maybe I am wrong]

Just an FYI about public land in MN. In your video you showed a picture of a WMA sign. For those that don't know trail cameras cannot be left overnight in a WMA. Found that out this year with a couple of our bear baits. Page 94 of the MN hunting regs list the do nots.

Thanks for that I had no idea.

Have you seen, used or heard of anyone using the new tactacam reveal cell camera? It gets great reviews and is only $100. I was thinking about getting one next year to try in Maine where we bear hunt.

They are getting a lot of discussion right now both good and bad. Since they are so new it's too early to tell about their reliability but the photos I have seen from them are pretty good.

A better title would have been BUY COVERT CAMERAS! You spend a lot of time saying how bad cheap cameras are but I really don't think you have much experience with them and certainly had no examples. I bought 5 cameras for the same price as your cheapest Covert, so I'm getting OK night pictures and great daylight pix covering 5 times as many areas. And they last 2-3 seasons on average so I'm very happy! YMMV!

I would never consider a camera a good buy unless you get at least 10 years out of it.

There are no trail cameras that you can reasonably expect to get 10 years of use out of....I don't care what brand or price point. Just remember to include the coupon code for covert cameras next time! 👍🤞🤷🤦

I don't have a coupon code. I had 8 cuddeback captures for 12-15 years and 7 were still working. I sold them to a buddy just last year and he's using them. I have Coverts that are 7-8 years old and working fine. These new Coverts I have no doubt will last at least 10 years or more. I would never consider using a camera that only lasts 2-3 seasons even if they were free; just way too risky.

@@BowhuntingRoad best camera I've had was a Bushnell trophy cam 119447C..I have newer cameras (6) that shoot video better but for pictures nothing beat that old Bushnell---> ..lost it in a storm in my lake getting Eagle pictures...found the American version but it still never shot as good as my original one. Lots of nature stuff you'd probaby like in my channel ---> kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a9qVla6f3autl2Q.html
