Hi Alyssa! I have been watching you for over 2 years and I GREATLY appreciate your message of 'creativity over consumption." You have been pivotal in helping me downsize and curate my wardrobe to fit in a 200 square foot home! I am so so envious of people who are lucky enough to be able to easily buy footwear that fits them. I am a size 42.5 to size 43 and I have to make numerous orders of shoes and boots and just keep trying on until I finally find something to fit me. The manufacturers often seem to assume that if your foot is long it must be wide too and often shoes that are long enough are just far too wide. And the boots in the bigger sizes are often ridiculously big around the calf so you could almost fit your arm in too! I mostly just wear mens trainers but my feet do get really cold in the winter. A lot is written about size inclusivity but it never seems to extend to shoes! And more and more brands seem now to only stock up to size 41. Whereas in the old days they always used to stock a size 42 and I had half a chance of squeezing into them if they came up big.

Yes I learned something new! Buying black boots has been my goal for sometime (I live in sunny CA though, sorry not Canada, (my grandma grew up there). I liked how you said you wanted your boots to disappear under your pants/denim, that's exactly what I want for me. I wouldn't need the "winter" boots but I loved seeing yours, and your story of them, which will help me decide on my next purchase. (love seeing your cat too).

I live in Texas so rarely snows. However I’m trying to be mindful with my purchases and contemplating a combat style boot. So searched your page and of course first up on your list is the combat boot. This helped a lot. Thank you. Now off the search for a combat boot second hand.

Such a good video. People from other countries do not understand how cold and snowy it is in our country. Sometimes you have to wear big boots. I have several pairs of boots, but my snow boots are the most worn. We have to keep warm after all!

Great video, as always. I had to laugh though on hearing that your 'incredibly old' boots are 4-5 years old...I guess we slightly more 'mature' ladies have a different perspective. Incredibly old I would call my 30+ year old Paul Green boots/shoes (2 pairs) which are both still going strong, thanks to a recent investment at the cobbler (that I might not have made if it wasn't for your example.) And I have to say : that short red coat (boucle?) looks so good on you! With the new boots, it is 'moody color perfection', and I am swooning over that outfit...

I always have in my fall/winter wardrobe laced leather high shaft winterboots. In black or brown. But my absolute faves are my burgundy Doc Martens. Live in them. Love them.

Definitely getting out my boot collection today and putting them in a place where I can see them! It’s is cold and wet in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t get a lot of snow so I have fewer options for snow. Still, when I need them, I have them and know where they are. Thanks for this video. Wow, Alyssa! You really went rogue on finally getting those boot that I had mention years ago that were lacking from your closet, but you still might have to bite the bullet and find a rugged flat lug sole combat black boot style to finish this off. But the moto style boot is a good substitute for non-slick weather. You are loving the gun metal boot and you going to love something in black that bring both worlds together of the moto with a lug sole. Has it already snowed there? Brrrrrrrrr! I have the UGG snow boots like that the ones shown here, I got them second hand but mine is in olive and just so darn cute and utilitarian boot. Great video totally different from what you were sporting some years back, these newer additions freshen up your looks. Thanks for sharing and ta ta for now.

I am surprised that you said you would never wear the extreme version of those with a skirt! a) you're well known for trying unexpected combinations 😉 b) I would definitely wear them with a chequered skirt or any warm ~woolen skirt or dress, especially those having black details! I wear clothes and footwear that make me look and feel amazing. I don't follow social media and style "trends and rules". I wear low heel footwear (for comfort and safety) - mostly ankle and chelsea boots. I only buy local and support women owned businesses.

I am very interested in knowing more about high quality brands for winter boots! 😂 I hate when I find a video about dressing for winter and they use long palazzo pants hitting the ground with kitten hells and I am like.. !?!? what? Who’s winter? 😂I come from Brazil so I know there is difference, but people don’t wonder about how to dress for winter in warm climates… is more or less the same thing of every other day 😂
