BIGGEST MISTAKE FOLKS MAKE IS NOT TESTING THE BOAT AS YOU WOULD USE IT....IF YOU NORMALLY RUN ALONE AND LIGHT LOADS THEN TEST THAT WAY ....IF YOU MORE OFTEN LOAD UP THE BOAT WITH GEAR AND PEOPLE THEN TEST IT THAT WAY .....SOMETIMES YOU NEED 2 PROPS WE DID WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND WATER SKIING REGULARLY , MY DAD WOULD CHANGE TO THE SKI PROP AND THE BOAT WAS A ROCKET OUT OF THE HOLE BUT WAS 10 MPH SLOWER AT WOT AND WOULD OVER REV IF NOT CAREFULL BUT THE POWER TO PULL ME OUT OF THE WATER ON ONE SKI WAS NEEDED BUT MAXIMUM SPEED IN SLALOM IS 36 MPH SO WE DIDNT NEED TOP SPEED WHICH WHEN PROPPED FOR SPEED WAS 46-50 MPH DEPENDING ON LOAD . SO LONG STORY SHORT ....GET 2 PROPS ...LOL....WE HAD A 21" AND A 17" NOW WE RUN 30" AND 26" WE RUN 7300 @ 105 MPH AND 9000 @ 105....ONE TAKES 1/2 MILE TO SPEED ONE TAKES 1/4 MILE TO SPEED ....

My Yamaha Exclusive center didn't know their ass from their heads when I repowered my 1975 BW Montauk with a 90SHO. I have gone through 15", 17" 19", and now a Talon SS 22" is on the way. I suspect I might be able to go even bigger than that. The 19 gets me 38mph(gps) at 6100rpm. This combo is a torque monster and great for water sports.
