Thanks for the vids! I've been doing my own euros for years now, and this is by far the best method that I've come across! Now, I re-watch this video every year before I get started on a mount. You do such a great job of presenting the information! I just finished up my 2019 Whitetail, and it looks amazing!

You inspired me to clean my first skull. I now have the skull of a cat that was a part of the lives of my entire neighborhood. Our name for him was Target, an orange cat with white patches on his side in the shape of a shooting target. Thanks to your guidance he has now been immortalized, his skull on the way to be painted by the community he was closest to. Thank you for what you do.

Followed every step, and had a wonderful result. Went to Sally's Beauty Supply to pick up the 40 volume developer, the lady behind the counter knew exactly what i was doing and helped me out. Start to finish about 3 hrs all in to skin, boil, wash, reboil, and bleach. Mop and Glo looks great on the bone. Thank you for all the pointers, fantastic video series. I did get some bleaching of the horns above the masking of the base, assuming its due to the steam rising above the taped area. will either wrap the whole horn next time or use a squirt/spray bottle to rinse with water during the bleaching process.

Hey Ryan! Awesome video. Learned a ton. I have been using the instructions from your video and have a couple questions 1. When you boil the whitetail head in oxi clean, do you need to wrap the antlers? Will they discolor or is that only the case during the h202 step? Approximately how long do you have to boil during this oxiclean stage? 2. Is it okay to soak the whitetail head in odorban after I have already done the peroxide boil? Thank you!!!! Jeremy .

I have trouble getting my hands on 40 volume clear developer, but I have no problem no getting 20 volume clear developer. Will 20 volume work for boiling if I don't dilute it quite as much? Also, I can get 40 volume creme developer, so, could a guy dilute the creme developer in water for boiling? I'm sure in time I'll be asking more questions! Ha! Again, thank you so much for making and sharing such great videos. Much appreciated.

So glad I found this KZfaq channel. Thank you so much for doing this. I must have watched this video a thousand times this week. I have not been a deer hunter long. Grew up saltwater fishing here in south Louisiana. This was my second buck. My first I shoulder mounted 2 years ago. That is very expensive. I had to do it because it was my first. This season I wanted to do a skull mount because of price. Then I started doing research and found you. The tips and tricks you gave built my confidence up. So I gave it a go this week. I did slightly over boil and cause some minor etching to the skull. It was my first time doing a euro and all in all it came out great. Thank you agin for sharing.

absolutely...the lower jaw falls off while boiling..once the cleaning is all done and there dry you simply line up the jaw where it would be when the animal was alive and make a pencil mark at the very end of the lower jaw which is like a rounded tab which is basically rite under the eye socket..then a very small drill bit and drill thru the lower jae and rite into the main skull..then a small stainless steel sheet metal screw on each side and your done..to me none of these skull mounts look good without the lower jaw attached..it just looks a million times better with the lower jaw..

I use volume 40 creme peroxide(beauty salon store) mixed with magnesium carbonate to get skulls white. Mix to the consistency of thin peanut butter, and brush on every crevice, this mixture will expand, let it sit for 24 hours. After 24 hours rinse in cold water brushing off and of the mixture. The longer the skull sits in the sun the whiter it gets. I don't boil but simmer. I use a splash of lysol and dawn dish soap along with 1/4 cup of sodium carbonate(Sal Soda) per gallon of water. This is a great detailed video tahnks for sharing. I do whitetail and mule deer, these skull aren't as greasy as hogs, cats and bear.

I love your tutorial!!! Hope after 4 years you still review the comments. I have been doing European mounts for my own deer for 30 years. On my first try, I used bad information and destroyed a Bear Skull to my shame. I am not a taxidermist and consider myself just another working man. I learned by word of mouth and magazine articles in Field and Stream while back then it was called, "Bleaching Skulls." Here you are on KZfaq and you have added many awesome, thoughtful insights, and GREAT tips I will use for sure! I look forward to using many of your tips in future mounting endeavors. May l suggest one or two, "old school" methods that may be helpful to some of the issues that seem to have caused you extra work. On the flesh boil, I suspend my mounts into the water by using cut up coat hangers lipped over the edge of the pot. That way, the pedicel's do not get submerged. It is awesome to see the bits of Cedar, Oak, Pine or even raw dirt from all the rubbing they did during the rut, being embedded into the beams, original to what was there when the deer was harvested. I also use another method for the whitening that has NO effect on the pedicels. It involves using cotton batting that is packed entirely around the mount, to include inside the eye sockets and all visible crevices, up to and around the pedicels. I place the mount with surrounding cotton batting into a glass brownie dish, and soak it with Hydrogen Peroxide right from the bottle, (Pharmacy grade) leaving a half inch to three quarter inch of pure hydrogen peroxide in the bottom of the dish. After 24 hours (or longer depending on whiteness) I remove the mount and dry it in sunlight for one or more days depending on cloud cover. I understand this adds an amount of time to the process, but I have had many people remark on the petina of my racks, while noting the rough material still embedded into the pedicles. THANK YOU for your addition to my knowledge base and I hope I have been helpful in return.

So much fun to figure out the whole process. I use the jerry schaefer where he says be a inchworm. Work it with an attitude of little by little and time goes by sliwer and your brain tells you at what point the bext thing is to do and its done. Whalla! Flush it down the toilet anx get your money first!❤😂🎉. Great job ryan. A++! "DR. FISH". LK. ST CLAIR MICHIGAN...GO BLUE!!!❤😂🎉

I secure mine to a tree, leave it out over winter and spring. Check it come summertime. Spray off with hose. Soak it in five gallon bucket of bleach water 1/10 ratio. After about 24 hours it’s perfect. You can use wood stain to custom finish the antlers. I like them white.

Everything went pretty good for the first time trying to euro! Coyote dead head didn't bleach quite enough. Still has a little grey in it. And an antelope tooth went out with the bath water. Still looking for it. But I'm learning and they'll be on the wall shortly.
