Today I'll show you how I clean my Vudoo 22LR bolt action rifle. How to clean a rimfire rifle. I use CLR, nylon brushes, and some TLC to get this done. What do you recommend as your preferred method of cleaning? Any products you have found that work better than others?

I haven’t ran anything but Break Free and a bore snake through my Bergara B14r since I got it a few months ago until an older buddy of mine asked if I was using the same bore snake every time. He told me that the boresnake get dirtier the more you use it. That’s why you listen to old guys. I ordered a bore guide (Tipton crap universal) reordered a Possum Hollow bore guide, rod, patches and Boretech Rimfire Blend and after a dozen patches or so my bore is clean. Thanks, I enjoy your videos

Thank you for your clear and concise presentation on cleaning. Every brick or so i address the carbon ring with Boretech C4 carbon cleaner, i soak a mop and let it dwell just forward of the chamber and leave it there for 20 minutes. That loosens the carbon real good, then nylon brush it out. I push the residual product out through the muzzle with a patch and that's pretty much job done.

Man don't worry about trolls and folks that try to act like they know it all, especially when they are doing it in a degrading way. You do good work, and always try to share your knowledge with us for free. Thank you for your videos and as for what I have found Hoppe's 9 still works just fine but I will admit I am becoming a huge fan of Boretech's products. For the folks new to shooting, their are 100's if not 1000's of cleaning products out their, everyone finds what works for them and passes it on just don't get too caught up in the countless ways people can talk you into spending more of your money to get the results you can from stuff that has been around for years. Stay away from the harsh stuff, while it does work in the hands of professionals it can cause major damage to your barrels if not used properly.

I clean my Lithgow LA101 .22lr every 500 rounds. Just dry patch out the bore until patch is clean ( never pushing jag completely out, just enough for the patch to fall off ), the action/receiver/bore entrance a light scrub with clean brush then wipe a patch that is slightly oiled up in and around. Bolt gets a clean every 250 rounds. Bolt face, ejector/extractor pins light scrub to remove gummed up carbon etc. might get a run through ultrasonic cleaner pending how dirty. Then lightly re oil once completely dried. Never had an issue after 10000 rounds since brand new, shoots 1 inch- 1/2 inch 5shot groups at 50m with its favourite ammo! 😊

I never thought that using a brass brush in the bore would be bad, bc the steel is much harder. However, airgunners only use nylon brushes. On the AEAC airgun KZfaq channel, Steve uses a nylon line like from a weed whacker, and just pulls patches thru the bore with it. It comes in a kit and will handle .177--shotgun bores. I guess airgun barrels are more susceptible to damage...👍😺

I understood purpose of bore guide was to keep solvent & crud from falling down into the action. As to harder steel--I would think a copper bristle brush is softer than steel. Not any more likely to cause damage than a nylon brush. Thoughts on why "nylon only"?

I started a new process.. that I'm trying.. Some of the guys at the range don't clean their rifles.. they shoot Br50 alot.. I started by using qtip only with clp in the chamber.. let soak for a few minutes.. take another qtip and clean in chamber only as best as possible.. then I run two dry patches down the barrel to get some of the build up out .. im thinking the smallest amount of clp will go down the barrel with the patch from the chamber.. the barrel looks fairly clean after two patches.. im trying to see if I can keep it seasoned from some of bullet lube.. my original cleaning process is very close to yours.. I had one of my best shooting sessions at the 100yds today.. im trying to keep that same accuracy as best as I can...

Steel brush is bad. Bronze is better, but anything metallic can damage the crown of the barrel. Best choice is nylon. There’s simply no need to completely scrub these rifle parts to the point they are perfectly clean.

When I first got into firearms, I’d clean after every range trip. Being a noob I didn’t want to use a bronze brush because I felt that it was to abrasive on the barrel, so I’d only use nylon bore brushes. After about 600rds I began to notice something in the barrel, it looked like it was pitted, but whenever I ran a patch through it would be black. Finally, I said fcuk it and just used a bronze bore brush, and all that pitting came out(it was carbon build up). Only time I use a nylon brush now is just for running an oiled patch down the bore(last step). Great videos I enjoy them👍🏿👍🏿

You failed to mention an important aspect of cleaning a 22 rimfire is that they have a .223” bore as opposed to a 22 centrefire which has a .224” bore. This means that a normal .22 cleaning rod will scrape inside the bore of a .22 rimfire barrel causing wear to the rifling. Better to use a .20 calibre one piece cleaning rod (I like proshot) & a doubled over cotton patch for a moderately tight fit in the barrel. Also brass is softer than steel & won’t harm a rimfires steel barrel. Airguns use softer steel & only nylon brushes should be used in them.

@@larrydecker881 I have no experience with the Venom yet, but the other two are decent options for a 22LR.

You lost me when you pushed the jag with a patch on it out of the muzzle, then you didn't remove the jag from the cleaning rod, you pulled it back through the muzzle.

the jag, which is undersized, does more damage than the bullet going down the barrel?

@@PrecisionRifleNetwork The jag, when pulled back down toward the breech, could nick the crown and cause a burr-I know first hand-I've done it. I always unscrew my jag, then pull it back down towards the breech.

I smell BS Nylon I've been using brass brushes for 40 years and never seen any BS these guys claim the hurt barrels...If your worried about hurting your Barrel you have a pretty crappy Barrel. Now I wish I had the last 10 minutes of watching this back. Next time you decide to claim this stuff show Bore scope before and after
