These cleaning/teardown videos are fantastic - I'd love to see more of them, especially one for standard double-action, swing-out-cylinder revolvers.

Just recently made my first AR 15 since I was discharged from the Army. While I was with 101st, I was issued a 240B but I always loved the M16A2 we had in Basic. I built an M16A4 clone to allow the use of optics but needed a cleaning kit. My VA Disabled status lets me get onto a nearby Marine base so I picked up a Otis cleaning kit for AR's there. It is so much better than the old school cleaning kits I used in the Army and it makes a world of difference

I have a Beretta Stampede (Uberti) .45 Colt. Purchased it in 2009 but unfortunately was discontinued. You did a great job in this video. I would like to add a couple of things that can assist in cleaning the weapon. First i shoot only copper jacketed ammo. The copper can be removed more easily by the Hoppes No. 9 Solvent, where i have never found a cleaning gun solvent that will break down lead fouling. When the solvent reacts with copper, the cleaning patch will have green residue, after setting for a while. Second, when cleaning ONLY the cylinder bores, i attach a brass (never steel) bore/cylinder brush to my hand drill. I soak the cylinder bores in solvent, and in VERY LOW rpms scrub the bores, moving the brush forward and rearward, keeping the bores wet. Being brass is a softer metal than steel the bores shouldn't be affected. But never use the drill cleaning method in the barrel. With it having lands and grooves, all types of scrubbing should be performed, in conjunction with them.

Don thanks for what you do here. I’ve learned so much! I had the chance to meet you at the NRA event in Indianapolis and you were very encouraging for someone like me that’s relatively new to learning about guns. Thanks again for all your help and education.

We used to use an old school shaving brush to put a light coat of oil on all the metal parts of the weapons in the army. Still works well to oil my guns after 44 years.

Wow. I can't remember the last time YT recommended me a Sootch, Guns'n'Biceps, MrHickock, etc, video. Something must be happening. And was a nice one to watch! Oh, and for whatever it's worth, each time I bought a revolver (this means a brand new one, albeit I'd have done it on a used one as well), I also opened the action box, I'm sorry for missing the right terms, it's been a while, my apologies, I'm talking about the lid on the side, usually right side, and cleaned the factory grease and crap in there as well, in one case "magically" turning a brand new revolver from "what's up?" and having me worried, to fully functional after being cleaned. Super easy this bit, with cottonswabs and rubbing alcohol. Then remember to re-lub those bits!! Cheers!

To clean the forcing cone I use a solvent wetted bent barrel brush inserted into the forcing cone and forcibly wiggle it around scrubbing out the forcing cone. Then I clean the barrel.

Obsolete? They shoot bullets at whatever you point them at and do it just as good as ever. I don't think anyone is arguing they are great carry pieces. You can have modern adlnd classic guns, you don't need to pick a side, enjoy all the styles.
