HOW TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN YOUR MOPAR COLD AIR INTAKE FILTER

After doing some research on the fabric that is used for the Mopar Cold Air Intake Filter. I found that it is a synthetic fabric so the K&N Cleaner spray and oil would actually ruin your filter since it is meant for a cotton based filter like the K&N Filter. In my findings the company AEM makes the Mopar Cold Air Intake filter which is a dryflow filter.
If you read this far lol...
Conclusion: Using either the AEM Filter cleaner or a soft degreaser like Soapy Water (Dish Soap) should be ok. FYI I could not find the AEM Filter cleaner in the Store so you would have to order the product. Here is a link to the directions from Mopar on how to clean & maintain your CAI Filter...

I own a 2003 srt4 and so it had a mopar cold air intake, its supposed to be blue but it was so black when I took it off. I'm giving it a good cleaning rn. Thanks for the video man it helped.

Do you think it would okay to use a shop vac to blow dry it? Or should it be air dried only? Also was it 100% dry before you re installed it?

@@ModernDayMuscle I see, so its not functional? I guess these cars don't have a carburetor so its not feeding air straight in like the old ones did. I've never gotten to see one of these up close to tell.

@@VirtualSuperSoldier yes it does. The shaker has a tube routed straight into the intake. Goes through the intake to filter our debris

Why when I did this did my average might go from 14 or 15 down to 10 or 11 its been months and im still at 10 or 11

That could be a couple of reasons why that went down. I haven’t experienced that myself. Example are you driving in city? Lead foot? Racing? Driving in sport a lot? Aggressive Acceleration? Heavy traffic? Etc

Yes if u see the link in the description that says instruction link. You will find on page 9 step 5d that you can either use the AEM cleaning solution or a mild household detergent (dish soap). The instructions are from mopar which helps :)

Not sure what the difference would be. I think the warm water would just help break up the dirt particles more

Modern Day Muscle think I could get another air filter with the same diameter as the factory, and just slip it on? Think there would be any issues? Different filter with OEM set up.

Mopar filters do not require that. It’s a synthetic material. K&N would need oil due to it being a cotton material i believe I placed links on where to find this info specifically
