How to clean your old antique bottles the easy way! You do not need a bottle tumbler for this method of cleaning! It's pretty much a set and forget method! No effort is required!
This method will remove stuck on dirt, oil, rust and stains that you cant remove from your bottles!
This cleaning method will cost around $20 and wont break the bank! Hope this will help anyone in their search to clean stuck on stains from old antique bottles that you have found!
If anyone else has any other methods feel free to share them in the comments below!

If you have bottles with hard to get to corners that a brush simply cannot reach, I've had great luck with pouring a tiny bit of aquarium gravel into the bottle, adding a bit of liquid cleaner or water and then just swishing the bottle back and forth so that the gravel contacts the dirty spots. Works well.

I grew up in northern Wisconsin across the street from an old bottle dump in the 60s and 70s. We were quite poor, so the bottle dump was our playground. I still have some of the bottles that we dug up as kids and I am going to use the Super Clean and your techniques to get them cleaner. And interestingly enough, my husband and son in law tore the front steps off of our daughter's 100+ year old home today and found a ton of old bottles. I just shared your video with her so she can clean those bottles up and enjoy them. A great, big THANK YOU to you.

Thanks so much, this worked like a charm. My local Harbor Freight had this product. I only left it for about an hour and it cleaned most of the the bottles I soaked. Letting the bad ones sit overnight. I dug 100 old bottles out of an old city dump that was uncovered when they razed an old tobacco barn in my town. Glad to be able to get them clean. Harbor Freight has a pack of bottle brushes for $5 as well.

I finally decided to clean two amber growler jugs that have been sitting for probably two decades. One of them still got a screw cap on. I'm planning to use them for homemade alcoholic beverages. Do you have any tips or word of caution for me? I'm really worried of anaerobic microorganism in there; assuming the screw cap holds really well this whole time. Also, can amber glass be stained if I use particular cleaner/chemicals for cleaning the inside? Thank you. Really great video, by the way. I learned a lot from it. Ohhhh, so when you're cleaning old bottles temperature change to the glass is bad! Hot to cold, cold to hot. If the bottle is rather cold and you run warm or hot water over it can shock the glass and cause it to crack! When ever im cleaning old bottles I try to get the tap water to room ish temperature! Antique glass can be very finicky.

Fascinating that the material safety data sheet specifically says to avoid contact with glass. Wow, but does not say why. Ingredients are Sodium Metasilicate and Sodium Hydroxide. The first ingredient is an emulsifier and the second ingredient is lye. Strange advise to avoid contact with glass in that lye is often used to clean glass beaker ware. BUT this is a strong agent and gloves and eye protection would seem very prudent.
@Adventurous4Life
@Adventurous4Life 4 жыл бұрын
I never wear gloves with it but Im not soaking my hands in it and have minimal contact with it really. Somtimes it gets on your fingers for a bit but normally running the water and rinse it off right away. And even on the back it says to not us on glass lol. Id guess more window glass or glass objects like figures or displays? No clue but works great lol.
@SuperEasySuperFast
@SuperEasySuperFast 3 жыл бұрын
Perhaps we can shed a little light for you! You should avoid contact with untreated glass, make sure the surface is as cool as possible, and never let it dry. Doing so could leave a white residue that is difficult to remove. However, using the method that Adventurous 4Life uses, works great!
@MrSwosh89
@MrSwosh89 3 жыл бұрын
It is probably a safety tip, degreasers like that as correctly pointed out can leave residue on the surface of glass panes, also the guys at Super Clean probably want to be sure no one uses it as a degreaser for their jars at home or glasses which, without proper rinsing, will result in one eating Super Clean Jam or Super Clean Peanut Butter 🤣 Needless to say I think the people at the company decided for "better safe than sorry" 😁👍

This seems like just the thing to clean out the miscellaneous bottles I picked up from an estate sale. Though, I do have one question: is there a way to make sure these bottles are clean to a food-safe degree? The reason I’m asking is because they seemed to be drug/chemical and/or perfume bottles. If you're referring to the large aqua alchohol bottle it's from around 1900-1915. The one in the video has an applied top and most likely held wine or whiskey. Relatively common bottle but they come in a variety of colours!

The bottle I’m talking about is the the same shape and color as yours, the glass is rippley with bubbles in it, has a slight pearly sheen, I just noticed it has a screw top, and says “federal law forbids sale or re use of this bottle” on the side

Hello, I tried this on amber bottles (the kind that essential oils come in/that are used as spray bottles). I left them completely submerged in Super Clean (3 parts water, 1 part Super Clean) for 5 days. Can degreaser damage glass if left in contact for too long? Like half of them have a haze/fogginess that reappears immediately after wiping them off with glass cleaner. I think they're... etched? Or it looks like "sickness"? Not sure if those are the proper terms, but it looks like there won't be any easy solutions to get them clear again.
@Adventurous4Life
@Adventurous4Life Жыл бұрын
If there is a hase on them that's sickness yes! Its hardwater built up on the glass. Only way to remove it is to remove a layer of the glass through tumbling. For a easy fix you can us baby oil on the inside of the bottle to hide it. Sickness on bottles really sucks but there's no easy way to remove it

@@Adventurous4Life Thanks for the quick response! But for cleaning bottles in the future, do you know if using Super Clean for too long can cause damage? I meant to only let them soak for 2-3 days but forgot about them. Or maybe amber is more sensitive to degreasers? We do have hard water where I live, but I didn't even use that - I diluted the Super Clean with distilled water. Also, after soaking them, I rinsed them off and ran them through the dishwasher, so, because they were wet when I transferred them, I don't even know if they had the haze prior to the dishwasher, but I ran them through the dishwasher PRIOR to soaking them in the Super Clean as well, and it didn't leave an irremovable haze.

Ive left super clean in bottles for months before 😂 i forget about a bottle begore and it has the cleaner in it for over half a year lol! It had begun to separate! Never had an issue with it running any sort of glass before, including amber. Personally I wouldn't put them through the dish washer, can run the risk of the cracking or even shattering! One small suggestion, shorten the lenght of that brush handle 😁 It is scary wobbly and a shorter handle would make it stiffer and easier to use as you would not have to fight off as much sideways movement as you are now. It is mostly to improve comfort for your wrists and to avoid any chance of bottles and such slipping off your hand. Btw if you add some sort of cork stop and shorten the brushes a little you could get it to fit in bottles as well, the cork could act as some sort of bearing preventing the steel handle from touching and maybe scratching the neck of the bottles. I don't know if this helps, it is just a wierd idea that came to me watching your video 😅

@MrSwosh89
@MrSwosh89 3 жыл бұрын
@@Adventurous4Life yeah probably the most sensible way to use the "Power Brush" (which is a damn fine tool name 🤣) is if you collect jars, that way when you reach like 20/30 jars you do them all in one go. Btw if you are interested you should get some solid, relatively thick, copper wire, cut it in small bits and use it as you would salt to clean the inside of a bottle, basically just shake it around with water. It can be reused A LOT of times, it can be basically free if you salvage it here and there and I've seen that stuff do what your degreaser does in a few days in a matter of 10/15 seconds of shaking with soapy water added.
