Thank you for the excellent 'how to' video. My neighbor and I both have the same snow blower and both were having the exact same problem. We both got to about step nine of ten of fixing the problem and then felt a bit leery of continuing for fear of making matters worse. Once I saw your video and knew how close I was, I knocked out my internal cleaning and put it all back together. It fired right up, so I went up and did the same to my neighbor's machine. I suppose that means that the upcoming winter storm will now miss us, but thanks for helping to get us ready for the next snowfall!

Thanks for making these excellent videos. You have a real knack for explaining how to make a repair. Not only that,you also explain what the parts do, which is huge. I have a 2410 that was made in 2011. The machine works great,but i noticed a real small amount of gas leaking from the snow blower. Its not a lot,just enough where I can smell gas in my garage. I was going to buy one of the cheap carburetors I've seen on Amazon,just so I had the gaskets that come with the carburetor,incase thats the reason my snow blower is leaking. With Winter storms right around the corner,Im going to wait until spring to take the cover off to take a look. My fear is that I break one of the throttle or choke plastic knobs, taking the cover off. So I'm going to wait until the spring to take the cover off to access the internals. While I'm here ,does anyone have a suggestion for which after market carburetor to buy. Id like to pick one up,just so I have the proper gaskets, incase thats the reason my Snow Blower is leaking. A lot of reviews, mentioned that the gaskets that come with these carbs,is not the right ones. So thanks again,and I'll be back in the spring to see what's causing the small leak I'm having with my 2410. This is one of the best small engine repair sites on KZfaq ,and I wish you a lot of success!

As far as your electric starter goes, If you plug it in, push the button and nothing happens, double check to make sure the outlet your using works, then also check different extension cords and if you have power getting to the starter then I would say you most likely have a bad starter but I cannot confirm that over the internet.

@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 2 жыл бұрын
Google carburetor for a TroyBilt 2410 snow thrower and you will find many to pick from if you want to purchase a new one. If you’re looking for parts for the carburetor you will need to take the model number off the bottom skid pan from the transmission near the rear you will see a big white tag. It has a long number that is the model and you will need to go to a TroyBilt website put the model number in look up the carburetor and find the internal parts. Then you will need to find out where you can purchase them. Most everyone I know will purchase new carburetors because they are cheap on the after market and they are getting better in quality.

Great video the problem I'm having is the brass tube with the multiple holes under the jet that you unscrewed will not come out no matter how hard I try. Any suggestions?
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 2 жыл бұрын
At that point, I will soak it with PB Blaster (a oil derusting lubricant). If your talking about the small jet you unscrew the above may work. If your trying to get out the longer one? You must also soak in penetrating oil and smack it down hard on wood to get it to drop out. If that doesn’t work, purchase a new one aftermarket for a cheap fix or Original manufacturer OEM. A better better fix. I honestly think they’re both made by China now and I have used aftermarket carburetor with success. Good luck let me know how you make out.

After sitting the off season with ethanol gas (and STA-BIL) in the carb, it wouldn't start when needed, so followed your instructions for removal and cleaning of the carburetor. After priming 3 times, it started on the very first pull! Yay, but there's a big problem apparently in how I put stuff together. The engine runs at top speed or not at all. I try to throttle down, but the RPMs never slow until throttle is all the way to the right and then it dies. A thought or two on what I need to check?

What do you do if the emulsion tube does not come out after smacking the carburetor on piece of wood several times pretty hard? Put carburetor and wait and try again several times?
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 2 жыл бұрын
You could try and soak it with PB Blaster. Turn the carb up so you can spray inside. Then soak it for a half hour or so. Then smack hard again in wood. I have had some very very tough ones and I thought I was going to break the carburetor, I hit it so hard against the wood.
@mattmanning1572
@mattmanning1572 2 жыл бұрын
What worked for me was, I got a round wooden toothpick and shoved it up in the emulsion tube hole. It wedged in there well enough that I then just pulled it right out with the tube stuck on the end of it. The wood of course will not damage the brass.

My 2410 wouldn't start, so I sprayed starter fluid down the choke knob hole. I got it started, but it would only run fully choked no matter how warm the engine got. If I tried moving the choke the slightest it would die. What is wrong inside the carb to cause this? Also, I ran the engine dry of fuel 2 seasons ago (didn't use it last season) and still had problems. What should I do to preserve the engine? Thanks!
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 3 жыл бұрын
The reason why the engine did not run after having sat for two seasons was due to bad fuel inside the carburetor. When you ran it dry you didn’t get all the fuel out. The next time you run it dry you should drain the carburetor bowl from the bolt on the side of the bowl after running it dry to make sure to get all fuel out. You can also start to run Tru Fuel in the machine. Check out Tru Fuel online and read up on it. It is a man made fuel that is 92 octane, no ethanol and has gas fuel stabilizers in it.
@tomseim
@tomseim 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines I disassembled the carb per your instructions and cleaned a blockage out of the main jet. Everything else looked very clean except for deposits in the bottom of the bowl, which I cleaned out. After reassembly the engine started immediately and I thought the problem was solved. It ran flawlessly for about a half hour and then quit suddenly. Subsequent disassembly and cleaning had no effect - the engine would not fire at all. I ordered a knock-off replacement on Amazon, but it did not have the plastic extension for the chock knob. Your first video showed this extension, but this video does not and is like the carb I received from Amazon. This is pressed onto the carb and I am concerned that removing it will break it. I cleaned the carb again and all I get is some back-firing with the throttle in the RUN position and nothing in the CHOKE position. Any ideas what is wrong?
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 3 жыл бұрын
@@tomseim If it ran for a 1/2 hr very well than the first thing I would do if you haven’t yet is to replace the spark plug. It also may be what is going into the carburetor from the fuel line to the fuel tank. I would start with checking the fuel tank for debris, water, rust, dirt. Take the fuel line off the carburetor and drained some into a glass container and let sit fir a while and check for water sitting at the bottom of the container. I would also suggest making sure the fuel line is in good condition. You make need to clean carburetor and if you can blow through carburetor with compressed air it will help. Try the spark plug first and go from there.

@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 2 жыл бұрын
It is not normal. Did the surging get better after running the machine for a while? If it did, then the machine just needed to be warmed up. If it still surges at full throttle when your not throwing snow after the machine has warmed up (normally around 5min) then you do have a carburetor issue. I have had some machines that took a long time 8 to 10 of using it to stop the surging but like I said , after warm up, if the engine is running properly, will not surge when the choke is off no matter if your throwing snow or not.

Can’t get main jet out

If you can’t get the small jet that on the screws out you may have to resort to an easy out tool. If you can’t get the emulsion tube out which is the long skinny one in the center you may want to try to soak it with PB blaster and then come back the next day and bang it on a block of wood and see if it’ll come out. If that doesn’t work you may want to look for a new carburetor online. I think I lost one or two carburetors in all the years I’ve been doing this due to tubes or Jets I could not get out.
