If anyone is interested in the best results that i've had was by following the Mels Speed Method (i found it on google) without a doubt the best resource that I've tried.

the most important dust is between the fan and the cooling fins, you have to take the fans off to see it because its what blocking the real airflow, not the thin coat of dust on the blades lol

Always hold the fans to prevent rotations... spinning them over their designated RPMs will result with resonance in future, which you don't want!

How did temps go, any improvement? I had similar problem (though no where near as much dust), and things improved with a quick clean, but not sure entire fan blades managed to be cleared of dust. Macbook often gets over the 55C mark, so might need to pull fans apart and wipes each blade entirely. Cheers for vid.

How should I clean my Macbook that has been used in a smoking environment?
@rodrigo43794 жыл бұрын
you should changed the thermal paste and never... never let the fans spin when cleaning with compressed air cuz you can damage the fans.
@edian18954 жыл бұрын
Not only the fans, you can damage the motherboard. The dc motors generate a reverse current flow in the motherboard which can destroy it. NEVER rotate the fans when any computer is off.
@k1sfd19744 жыл бұрын
Yes, use a finger on the center and do NOT just try to wedge one of the fan blades. I'd actually recommend only using canned air as the volume of air (cfm) is less as well as the pressure (psi). At the very least, make sure you use a regulator on your compressor to do the same! Additionally, I'd use a soft brush first and as the OP mentioned, change the poor factory thermal paste that Apple used. When you remove the heat sink, you can use the brush and canned air to properly clean out the radiator(s) that the fans are blowing air through as well as the rest of the fan housing. This will almost CERTAINLY be needed if the computer is in a extremely dusty environment and/or there are short haired pets in the home.

@@chee6916 The best is to fix the fans and use compressed air. A vacuum cleaner is also a really bad idea as the hose of the vacuum cleaner can be statically charged and damage the components on your motherboard or decrease the lifespan.

For such thing a would use air spray instead of industrial air pressure kompressor than you can be sure the air it 100% clean. Sometimes there are also an oiler device combined with the compression (to maintain the compressor parts it make some oil drops every hour in the system) you have to be careful. Air spray is much safer and more convenient to use.

It is crazy, guys you have no clue what you are doing....fans still connected and you blow air inside until the fans are spinning. Congrats
@GodBlessedTheBeat3 жыл бұрын
yeah, that can damage the fans. he should've held them so they wouldn't spin around like that. a compressed air gun like that one can make the fans spin much faster than what they're built for. but on the flip side, a compressed air can can spit out liquid so its up to choice basically. I would rather use an air gun like his but not at full speed, and at the same time its best to put a finger on the fans to keep them still.
